In June 2004, our home mortgage was transferred from Decision One Mortgage to Countrywide. We received a letter from Decision stating that we would receive information from Countrywide and to continue sending payments to Decision One until we received our new mortgage information. From there, everything went downhill.

In early October 2004, I called Countrywide to find out when we would be receiving information on our loan. The woman I talked to confirmed the address that was on file and it was our previous residence before buying our house. It was corrected and I was told the information would be sent and we wouldn't be penalized since it wasn't our mistake.

I didn't hear anything until Nov. 4, 2004 when we received our first statement. The statement claimed we were two months behind on our payments. I called and faxed in my payment records. All the payments were made on time to Decision One through Washington Mutual bill pay.

Since then, I have gotten the run-around, been lied to and hung up on by Countrywide employees. I have all the records to prove I paid. To make matters worse, since we didn't receive our November invoice, due on November 1, until November 4. I had to overnight the payment in order to make sure they received it on time. They received it on Nov. 9, 2004. The USPS tracking number is er967495339us. They told me they didn't receive the payment until Nov. 12. A day after our grace period was over and are charging late fees.

I have sent letters the President of Countrywide, the CEO, the executive director, the FTC, the WA Attorney General and others. We'll see what happens. If you're loan gets transferred to Countrywide, refinance immediately! DO YOURSELF A FAVOR! Also, you can others experiences on a website called http://www.countrywidehomeloansucks.com

Finally Fixed

AUTHOR: Erin - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, January 18, 2005

Well, we finally got Countrywide to fix everything but it took nearly 2 and a half months for them to fix our account and the help of the Better Business Bureau and Washington State Attorney General. Countrywide apologized for the mistake in a letter that I have. All payments were properly credited, all fees removed and our credit was fixed. I am glad it was finally taken care of but I wish they would better train their customer service reps. They are rude and do not know what they are talking about or how to fix a problem. This was a very simple problem to correct. No one should have to go through was we went through but at least it was fixed.
