This company contacted me first around September 2009. I was barely awake and their fast talking soon had me roped into a too-good-to-be-true magazine deal and get a nice watch in the bargain. I was curious when they made a charge of $136.56 on my debit card, but then got suspicious when they started taking out $68.28 a month for these subscriptions. First, I tried to get them to cancel (since nowhere in their original conversation did they say I COULDN'T cancel), but they said I couldn't and lowered it down to $49.92 instead. I got a really crummy watch in the bargain, and a deluge of these magazines I DIDN'T want. What was really suspicious was that the watch was mailed off from Virginia Beach, and that my card deductions were sourced there.

It took me a while to realize this, up until this summer. I stumbled upon this wonderful site and immediately canceled my debit card, but by the time I severed my ties from this company they had scammed me out $591.00 in total. They keep on calling my cell phone, regardless whether I'm on the Do Not Call list. And now, they have relocated to my home state (their NC numbers are 919-275-3287 and 919-275-3278 respectively) and are harassing me two times a day. When they call me, I just hang up or don't answer.

I've sent them a letter in writing demanding a complete refund, but so far they haven't complied. But I've learned a valuable lesson: Don't accept these magazines from these so-called retailers, they will suck you dry.

Finally got the account cancelled

AUTHOR: MPC - (USA)

POSTED: Sunday, January 09, 2011

I finally took action into my own hands. I filed a consumer complaint report with my local attorney general as well as a complaint with the FCC, early last December. I sent both of them copies of my letters, the Ripoff Report I filed and details of the debit card transactions.

Within two weeks, the calls stopped (both cell phone and landline) and the attorney general's office sent me a copy of the letter from CRC saying that they have immediately cancelled my account. And as far as I know, I'm no longer being inundated with several dozen magazines. I didn't get my money back (yet), but I am grateful this is over and done with.

When dealing with CRC, one needs to file a complaint with your local attorney general's office and the FCC in order to get results. Otherwise, they'll keep harassing you for payments.
