I am a mortgage loan processor, I have a client that had a credit card from this bank.  My client has been working the past few months on building his FICO score up to purchase a home.

I sent this bank a borrower signature authorization me to speak on his behave.  MOST bank allow you to fax it in.  NOT this bank even though at first they gave me the fax number to send in the authorization.  I call a week later and was told I had to MAIL it in, they didn't accept them via fax.

Then I was told to send a letter explaining a late payment I did.  My client tried to set up auto pay with his personal bank, but it didn't work the first month on this account.  As soon as he realized the payment hadn't been made, he paid the bill completely off.  I sent a letter explaining the situation as I was instructed to do so by the bank representative and that they would remove the late notice from the credit reporting agency.  I call back today got another customer supervisor on the phone and was told a different story they would not reverse a ONE month late from this client reporting agency.  I do this for a living I would suggest NO one get a credit card from this bank.  It is not worth the risk of your FICO score Most reputable  credit card company would not treat their customer like this.

One Problem

The first negative mark on a Credit Report is a 30-Day late. So your contention is that it took your client more than 30 days to become "aware" that the payment was not made. Okay..let's go with that.

Creditors are required per FEDERAL Law to make the credit card statements available at least 21 days before the due date. This can be either electronically or by mail.  That statement would have shown that a payment was not made, where if he made it as soon as he became aware he would have avoided the 30-Day late mark by about 2 weeks.

So are you posting on a public forum that this company has violated Federal Law and did not make the statements available and/or they reported him as 30 days late when he was not?

But let's not stop there. As a person in the mortgage industry who deals a lot with finances, you of course understand the importance of a person to reconcile their bank statements on a monthly basis.  So how come even if he "missed" the credit card statement, he did not notice the payment was not withdrawn when he looked at his bank statement?

Perhaps there is more to this story that your client isn't telling you, and the actions you have seen from your client are just more indications of why he needs to build up his credit score with a Sub-Prime credit card.  Or perhaps there is more that you are not telling us.
