this is so horrible what this company i trying to do to me and my grandma.i have had a year from hell.i hired a debt settlement company to help us in october with bank of america, because i could no longer afford to pay it and others. i have a cease and decist order so they will not make harrassing calls and they should be dealing with the settlement company.

they have been getting realy nasty with me and my grandma. they threatened me last week and said they was going to turn me into the courthouse and file with them which to my understanding they cannot do its against the law so they threatened some more and its getting so rediculous.

they called my 80 year old grandma and told her they was going to turn her in to the courthouse and threatened to do many things and got her so worked up it was terrible. she lives with my aunt and she went crazy ,because they actualy believed creditors interchange even though i told them they are only doing this to get a rise from you and the money.

i am going to settle for 1000, but why settle for that when they can abuse my grandma verbally and then my aunt turned around and did the same thing because she believed them. i had the settlement company call them and they are going to sue them. apperantly creditors interchanged has been sued many times for the tactics that they use.and when i see and read some of them they make my skin crawl. i dont know what type of person would want to even do that kind of work.they are very degrading and abusive with there tacics. this has to stop.

i have never spoke with such rude people before in my life. like i said i am with a settlement company and i will settle with them for 1000 or less when i get it saved. so they figured they could harrass my grandma for all of it because she is on the card to.she doesnt have it either she just has social security and with the times as bad as they are there are alot of people in the same boat as us. what are they going to do threaten the whole nation! i just wish someone could make it stop it is terrible what they put people through with there lies and deception!

i joined a settlement company to prevent all this from happening, but creditors interchange thinks they are above law and anything else for that matter. we took out a cease and decist order in november and all they still do is call call call and send stuff in the mail. they was told to contact the debt settlement company and they told me they do not have to talk to any one or work with any one.so i guesse like i said thy think they are above the law!!!! someone needs to spring them back to reality, because this is horrible...

They are not above the law but...

They are correct in that they do NOT have to work with your debt settlement company.

YOU CAN STOP them by suing them in district court for FDCPA violations.

Your grandmother can sue them as well.

You should consult with an attorney who specializes in consumer credit issues. Also, you should consult with an attorney about bankruptcy protection.

I do not recommend these "debt settlement" companies for a variety of reasons but mostly because they take your money for doing what YOU CAN DO FOR YOURSELF.

You need to learn your rights by going to www.ftc.gov (FTC website) and download the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and the Fair Debt Reporting Act. Read these acts completely.

Then go find yourself an attorney.

Good luck.
