I got this credit card via the phone, I used it once and when I got the first statement it was over the limit and I called and they said that those are all fees that were applied. I asked them to cancell it and they wouldnt so a year went by of over the limit fees went onto it, they finally cancelled the card after a 200.00 dollar limit which I only put 50.00 on ended up over 1000.00 they passed this onto a collection agency called Stillman Law office and they came yesturday and Seized my car they put a club on it and told us there is a judgement against us from Cross country bank and that if we touched the car or sold it in any way they will arrest me.

I am unemployed and it's my only car. how can they do this? they are now asking for 1500.00 by next friday!!!... what am I to do?they completely ripped me off like many others according to all the websites they have had many class action suits against them for this very same thing. and who do I turn to someone unemployed and being threatened to jail. I have been battling this company from day 1 and now its 10 years later and stillman law office says its legal because they bought the debt and it hasnt been 10 years for them. help!

Went to the Attorney General

AUTHOR: Ssmith6400 - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, October 26, 2008

I was contacted by the michigan attorney general and they are sending this to the delaware attorney general, apparently they have several civil law suits against them for this very same thing. but in the meantime my truck was paid off so I was in desperate need of a resolution therefore was forced to resolve this issue in bankruptcy. I feel it is now a moral issue that no-one should have to go through this with a company that has a track record like Cross Country/Allied

When you call the police, you'll find a few answers:

Like:

Statute of limitations does not apply if they got a judgment 10 years ago. Heck even 8 years ago. Many states have limitations on judgments, but they are renewable!

If they do have a judgment, they do have the right to collect on it, and selling your car is a possibility. However, I'm pretty sure they don't have the right to break into your car and put a club on it. Selling property is usually the action of the local sheriff's office, and the costs of the sale have to be taken out first, along with any value that is exempted by your state's laws.

How much is your car worth? Do you still have a loan on it?

Contact the POLICE

AUTHOR: Nancy - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, September 28, 2008

Don't be such a whimp. CALL the police. If the debit is 10 years old, it is past the statute limitations. The time starts from the orginal debt, NOT wwhen they bought it. IF there is a free legal aid society where you live contact them. What ever you do DO NOT agree to pay them anything.
