They contacted me attempting to collect on a credit card debt.  I called to give them the circumstances of this account.

That account was involved in identity theft and was settled in court over a year ago and dismissed.  It was not our debt. Actually it is a very old debt, dating back to 2004. We satisfied the amount we legally incured, but would not pay the charges that were made after the card was stolen.

They would not listen or let me talk, rather they kept talking over me. First a guy and then a woman all using a very unpleasant tone. There was no way I was going to be able to tell them about the history of this account.

After the case was dismissed by the first collection agency,  they proceeded to sell it to another.  That one. a local agency, accepted the court documents and have never contacted me again.  However, they have apparently sold that false debt to Curtis O Barnes. I fear this will never end, as one agency after another purchases this false debt and attempts to collect on it.  I cannot afford to have a lawyer represent me time after time.  How can I stop this ripoff practice. I do not believe that Curtis O Barnes is an actual lawyer,  since they are rude and unprofessional.
