I had to cancel my contract with Custom Built in July 2009 because I was moving to North Carolina to take a job from South Carolina. At the time, the person told me I could not cancel without a fee. She told me I had to pay $250, even though I hadnt even had one training session. I faxed over the sheet with my credit card number and a signature authorizing this to be charged to my account and the contract to be cancelled. When pulling my credit report for a home loan, my financial advisor notified me that in August they pulled $105 from my regular checking account for this contract for the August bill. 1) This should be cancelled based on the faxed info and the $105 should be refunded to my account. NO EXCUSES 2) I looked at the contract and since I moved, I should not have to had to pay the $250, as long as I showed a letter of living in NC. I asked the office to contact me (the customer) and let me know if they got it, in addition to refunding my $250 back since I did not have to pay that money b/c I moved to cancel the contract. I may just have Mastercard put a hold on it. When I asked to talk to someone above the Customer Service person or president, she said that is why they have me, they dont take calls. Well, that is a terrible business. Its ok though b/c now I know from these names on this report. I emailed them numerous times and they responded with a generic email then didnt respond at all today. I think being in PR, if they dont resolve this in a week, Ill just start sending out things on Facebook, Twitter and to the media. Probably TV where they do consumer bad buys. Im also faxing all of my stuff to them again and to my dads best friend, one of the best attorneys in Atlanta.

Atlanta Fitness- deceptive Contracts

AUTHOR: duet2you - ()

POSTED: Sunday, February 01, 2015

Think the best way to resolve issues like this is for Atlanta Fitness to post their contracts "upfront" in Big BOLD print on their website.  Atlanta Fitness will lose a lot of business treating consumers this way...it's deceptive. Shame on you, Atlanta Fitness. Glad I read this report, as I will not be joining this fitness center.
