Yesterday I ordered a Inspirion desktop 3000 series (Inspirion 3847 as it turns out) with a 'Free 32 inch TV' deal attached to it.  I looked at other computers not attached to any deal, and didnt see or was blocked from (no idea why I wouldnt have seen it) a similar computer for a cheaper price, so I figured why not get a free TV right?  So I put it in my cart and began the checkout proccess.  It had the price of the unit, a TV price and a discount for the TV (in two seperate discounts. $200 and $79.).

In the Cart I noticed shipping was 3-5 days.... I was placing my order early on a thursday. Seen an option of Next Day shipping for $50 and 2 day for $30. They also had a rewards or advantage program or something, free signup and you would get free 2 day shipping. So I signed up for that in hopes that I might get it by Saturday (longshot I knew, but eh tried it). Turns out that shipping is different then it would seem.  It did not mean I would get the computer by the weekend or even on monday. Aparently I will get the TV on Monday, but as of the time I write this, my computer is still 'In Production' with an estimated delivery date of August 3rd (7 business days and 11 real days after I ordered it).

Anyway, back to the main point.  I was looking at Dell.com and noticed the same computer for $200 less. Turns out the TV isnt really free, they just jack up the price of the computer to offset the cost.  Its just a lame marketing ploy to get you to buy a TV you probably dont need.

I am writting this in hopes of helping other people avoid something I probably could have easily avoided if I done just a bit more research.
