Twice I have tried to be approved for credit from Dell. I had to file bankruptcy after ending an abusive relationship. I didn't know my ex was going to try to end my life. When I filed for bankruptcy I did not include Dell and made sure I paid off what I owed. That was in 2007. 8-9 years ago. I ordered ink for my printer one time to have the salesman be rude to me and make an off the wall compliment about theivery. I PAID them. I did not DEFAULT,. Dell will not allow me credit now due to this and also placed it on my credit report as if I defaulted. I didn't default. I believe this company is not using fair and just practices. It is no wonder so many people are not using HP, Asus and other equipment and Dell is getting a bad name. It isn't going to hurt the company (yet) but I will be buying my equipment with a different brand name. Tonight I have advised three people of what happened. I will continue to tell everyone I know how bad business this is.

You can act so rightous all you want. Dell has my card information on file from previous purchases. I have rebuilt my credit. It is Dell who has left black marks. I would never wish what I have went through on another person. Maybe you need to sit on the fence and look at both sides before you are so judgemental. You must work for Dell. Getting paid to stick up for them? You would be surprised as to how many companies I deal with that are turning away from Dell. Maybe they need to hire nicer people.

So why didn't you just use a different credit card?

If Dell wouldn't open up a line of credit why didn't you just one of your other credit cards?
After all if you are complaning about how Dell won't open up a line of credit, you must have never been told no and have several other credit cards and since you learned about good credit management after your bankruptcy you have plenty available on your other cards to be able to make this purchase....right? No...Ummm...
So, sorry this is not a RipOff, because Dell(like EVERY creditor) has the right to decide if they will allow you to continue to borrow their money. That's right...it is THEIR money. And while you say that it isn't going to "hurt" the company. Well what if you don't pay your bill? You have a history because of the BK of "stiffing" your creditors, why would they think that perhaps if troubles don't happen again you decide that since you paid them last time you don't pay them this time?
Oh but you say that you had to file bankruptcy and it wasn't your fault. Well again, not to be rude just giving you the facts. EVERYONE who files Bankruptcy has a reason and while many accept responsibility. Others do what ever they can to try and explain away why it wasn't their fault and people should just make an exception for them. This is why there is no "reason" on a credit report.
Just a couple of notes on your BK. By law you must include ALL of your debts in the Bankruptcy, even if you later decide to pay it. So not exactly sure how it is listed on your credit report but it is probably correct based on your circumstances. But even if it wasn't and you got them to fix it, they still would NOT have to give you credit because once again it is THEIR money.
