My wife and I are both handicap and had to move out of Florida because of finicial reasons. We choose Destination Movers because they promised professional movers that would take of everything for a lower price.

Their quote was almost half of anyone else until they showed up at the hose 12 hours late. After they loaded the truck the doubled the price and had all kinds of hidden costs. They wanted a credit card over the phone but when they showed up it was cash only or money order.

I had a hot tub which cost me $5oo extra but when they came they said they couldnt lift it. but on the phone they claimed they had hydraylic tailgates and that it wasnt a problem to lift. Also after they carried all the furniture outside in the lawn they had a broken ramp that wouldnt slide out so they dragged all of our furniture up over the back of the truck.

We waited five days with no word from them than i started to call everyday. after 16 days of no furniture or beds for me and my wife (handicapped) they called and delivered the furniture.

almost everything was dented busted or scracthed. My hot tub cover had hevey stuff stacked ontop of it causeing the strofoam cover to break. My lawn tractor had hevey stuff on it causeing the fiberglass hood to shatter. My wifes brandnew turntable had the needle arm broken clear off and the entertainment center was in pieces. They also broke the timer off a brand new washing machine. This is few of the things that was damaged.

They claimed to have had a million dollars worth of insurance to file a claim. We did that and their claim agent said we only get .60 lb for damages. THey said we had $921 worth so to speed up the process i agreed to it. We have been waiting since Nov. for a check and we called today to find out they went out of business.

When the men unloaded our furniture i started to complain and one of the boys told me that they had went out of business before and just reopened under a different name Destination Movers. He did not tell me what the other co. name was.

We tried to report this to the State of Florida Att. Generals office they said to call DOT they said to go online and file a report. Att. Generals office said unless they can see a paterern they would not start an investagation.

That is just sick and horrible for them to do this to you. It might make you feel better to know you are not alone in this but it might hurt you to know there's really nothing you can do about it. Over 100's of people have been scammed by this company and none of us have ever gotten anything out of this horrible experience. Me personally my fiance and I are missing over half of our belongings and was charged $1500.00 $500 more than we were quoted. They also charged us $200 just in storage late fees which we had not been aware of. This is what this company does they feed off the poor the weak/handicapped/ and the elderly and its just sick! There was a story i found when goggling these people and they scammed a person who was a Katrina victim and charged a church that was paying for there move double and said they wouldn't deliver if it wasn't paid. So your probably asking yourself what can we do about this and the answer is really nothing. You can write complaint after complaint to the BBB and the Attorney General but again they can't do anything. I've also reported them to the FBI and the DOT and both of them had said these people are untouchable b/c they were supposedly closing there doors come December 31st 2008. I'm surprised you got your belongings at all. If you want I can give you a few names to contact so e-mail me at (((Redacted))) or if this website blocks my e-mail which i hope they don't you can find me on (((Redacted))). I have to say good luck to you and your family.
