Devcon Security offered to switch our service from another security company for free, and gave us a discount off our monitoring rate. Sounds like a good deal, right? Problem is they have now closed the local office and left us high and dry for service. The salesman told us they had recently expanded nationwide and were doing very well.
Now that we've signed a 3 year contract, I find out they closed the local office that installed our system and would have also been providing service on our system. Supposedly I am still being monitored but I have my doubts about that, based on complaints I have read elsewhere.
I called my salesman with a question about my system and he told me about the office closing. We have received no notice from Devcon. The salesman also told me the company is merging with Pinnacle Security and they might be the ones providing service on my system. I checked into Pinnacle and they have an F rating on the BBB and have many, many complaints from customers. Plus, they've been sued by several states' Attorneys General for deceitful sales practices! That's not a company I want to do business with, and I shouldn't have to since I didn't sign up with them. The Devcon customer service rep I talked to said I could not be released from my contract unless I paid the remaining 2 years of monitoring.
I signed up with an A+ rated company and then find myself with an F rated company. Talk about a Rip-Off !!!

Our entire entered into a contract with Devcon. 1/2 the alarms aren't working and dialing out to a"dead" number. In my attempt to resolve it with them I spent 6 hours being transferred to multiple departments, none of which could provide a solution.
I glad the contract is up in 6 months, I'm sure they will be happy losing the 5k a month in fees.
If your an HOA, STAY AWAY. Find a local company that can provide real service and support.
And to the "employee" posting, please don't bother with the canned response and support email, it's embarrassing.

Lipstick on a pig

I heard recently that, if you put lipstick on a pig, it is still a pig. Devcon may claim to be providing service to Pinnacle customers, but a friend of mine with a Devcon system had a service call last week and she was surprised to have a Pinnacle technician arrive at the door. The Pinnacle technician was unable to work on the system without some sort of access code. After about 45 minutes in the home, she (the Pinnacle technician) finally reached someone on the phone who could walk her through working on the Devcon system.
Furthermore, an unhappy customer posted a comment on Devcon's facebook page, and the administrator asked him to respond to them directly at facebook@pinnaclesecurity.com. "Devcon's" new CEO is from Pinnacle and the company has closed nearly half of its branches. It appears that the sins of the brother are catching up with "Devcon".
The Web is making it harder and harder for deceptive companies to cover their tracks. More and more pigs with lipstick are showing up.

We apologize for any inconvenience we may have caused you as a result of the local branch closing. For your convenience, we still have Devcon technicians in the area for service needs.
We do want to let you know that Devcon is not merging with Pinnacle, but rather we provide service to their customers, as well as our own. We do want to help you right away.
Please email your contact information to consumeraffairs@devconsecurity.com so that we can reach you directly.
