All I have say guys, if you're planning on joining the real world workforce, DON'T ATTEND DEVRY AT ALL. I went to an interview and the enterviewer told me directly every time they see a resume with Devry being one of the school the person attended they just destroy the resume immediately. many employers know devry has no real reputation... If only i could turn back time I WOULD HAVE NEVER ATTENDED DEVRY. PLEASE BE VERY CAREFULL ON YOUR CHOICE BECAUSE YOU WILL BE JUDGED BY IT LATER ON...YOU'LL BE PAYING SO MUCH MONEY AND GET NOTHING IN RETURN

Comment #3, like everyone here, your grammar is wrong. I laughed when you berated the one guy for not getting his plurals correct when he said universities instead of university. Then, not even 3 sentences after that, you do the same thing when you said "Georgia Tech and Virginia Tech are fairly decent engineering school" you need to make the "school" plural as in schools.

Normally I would never say anything, but when you put the guy down for having poor grammar, and made the exact same mistake in the same paragraph, I found that comical.

Here's some advice from a DeVry graduate.

Go somewhere else.  If a college has a nice balanced goo/bad comment ratio then THE COLLEGE IS BAD. A college should have about 1 bad comment for every 100 good comments.

I graduated from DeVry and found that DeVry's accreditation is only as a Technology school through ABET.  DeVry will never volunteer this information but here is the short and sweet of it all.  If you get a degree from DeVry, none of your courses will transfer to any of the colleges you mentioned.  Devry's accreditation with ABET is NOT an EAC accreditation as required by the NCEES board in order to sit for the PE exam.

In fact ABET FORBIDS a colege from transferring TAC credits into and EAC program.  So if you get an EET from Devry, then try to become a professional engineer, NCEES will not approve your application.  Furthermore, an ABET EAC accredited college CANNOT accept your credits from DeVry.  So in short, you will have to take all your courses a second time at a real college.

This makes Devry's tuition effectively $1,200/ Credit hour because you will have to retake EVERY course.

You are lying.

It sounds like you are a DeVry spin doctor that is tasked with clouding the waters so DeVry looks more legit.

Here's how I know that.

1. You CANNOT even sit for the PE exam with a degree from DeVry.  NCEES does not allow it.  DeVry is ABET accredited as a Technology school HENCE the TAC certification.  To sit for the PE exam, NCEES requires a EAC accreditation from ABET.  Which DeVry DOES NOT HAVE.

2. Just because the Federal government recognizes the degree, DOES NOT mean they would hire you or certify you as an engineer.

Consumer Comment #3 is uneducated

AUTHOR: Darien - (USA)

POSTED: Wednesday, March 24, 2010

I like how he uses advertisements and no-ranking as his arguments.  Every single state colleges/universities in my area advertise at least on radio, most on TV.  Maybe he has to get a radio or a TV first, to be able to know that.  Since I graduated from DeVry and am now making $70,000+ after 2 years, I will offer to buy you a TV, but I am sorry that I can't by you an education to know how to support your statement with facts.

DeVry is ABET/TAC accredited.  This is accepted by state and federal government.  Last year I took a National Engineering Exam (Fundamental of Engineering Examination) with only one week of study.  I passed it, the first try.  Also just to let you know, 30% of engineering graduates nationwide fail this test the first time they take it.  DeVry must be better than 30% of engineering universities that are ABET/EAC accredited. I vouch for the school because it was so easy to pass FE exam and got a big pay raise for it.

Also, Devry is an unranked university in best colleges because it is a specialty school.  "Colleges that offer most or all of their degrees in fine arts, performing arts, business, or engineering are listed as specialty schools" (USNews.com).  DeVry focuses on technical degrees.  That is why they are the best in technical education.

I don't know what additional comments I can offer more about DeVry, but I am a real life living proof of the success story.

Devry is ABET accredited

AUTHOR: Alfred - (United States of America)

POSTED: Saturday, February 27, 2010

Well whatever I've read plenty of negative and positive stuff here on Devry and others.
but it came down to this, Devry is accredited by ABET .. as well is Columbia University, MIT, Manhattan COllege, NYIT etc are accredited by ABET as well. so if you're going into Applied Science Computing, Engineering, Technology Education I would feel safe.

Other than that, don't know why people are complaining so much.

I was so close into signing up into Devry but something had me skeptical.
I am still not sure if I should or rather go into other schools that offer online IT/MIS degree that are better ranked.

Feel free to email me if you're attending online school in IT field from a good ranking school.

No Penn Foster no Ashworth thanks

Consumer Comment #1 is WRONG

AUTHOR: DeVry is a joke - (United States of America)

POSTED: Monday, February 15, 2010

I like how one guy actually compared DeVry to "any average universities" (by the way, it should be "university", singular). First, no one expects DeVry to be an Ivy League school, and you're just a DeVry-hired representative trying to downplay the accusations with ridiculous, deviating comparisons. An Ivy League school is ranked in the top 20 in the nation - DeVry is not even ranked. So between a school like Princeton and any DeVry "school" is all the spectrum of highly selective private universities, liberal arts colleges, big state and public schools, community colleges, etc. Georgia Tech and Virginia Tech are fairly decent engineering school (obviously not as good as MIT or SEAS at Columbia). To compare DeVry to these schools is a gross lie and insult to the definition of education. Once again, 1) even community colleges are ranked, and the US News college rankings have several tiers and hundreds of schools - but DeVry is so bad that it's unranked. 2) Compared to the poor degree that DeVry claims to give you, it sure charges you a lot - you're better off going to a community college for a fraction of tuition. 3) DeVry spends a lot of money on marketing - I see their ads everywhere online - and not so much on its actual education. 4) DeVry sucks, that's why they focus so munch on advertising and luring uninformed consumers into thinking they're an actual "university". 5) DeVry is not a legitimate academic institution - rather, they're a for-profit company masquerading as one to cash in on the demand for degrees.

DeVry provides adequate education but is way overpriced.

AUTHOR: Shaun - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Saturday, August 01, 2009

I graduated from DeVry, NY in Long Island City with an Associate degree in 2007. I have to say I deeply regret my decision to attend DeVry and I wouldn't recommend the school to anybody else. My issue is not with the quality of education. The professors were ok and knowledgeable enough to do their jobs, nothing special. The problem with DeVry is that the degree that you are essentially buying is not worth the price. You can get the same quality of education at a far cheaper school. I wish I had weighed my options a little more before deciding to attend DeVry. And then once you start its hard to leave because the credits aren't easily transferrable to other institutions. I was young and dumb and let myself be talked into enrolling by one of their sales people or advisors, I'm not sure which it is. Thinking back, it sure sounded like I received a sales pitch. Anyway, I wouldn't recommend the school to anybody. Don't waste you money. Now that I'm older and wiser, I just can't rationalize paying the sort of money I did to go to DeVry. And as far as reputation, I wouldn't say DeVry has the worst reputation out in the workforce but if an employer was trying to decide between you and another candidate with a degree from say a state or city college, I wouldn't expect the DeVry grad to get the position.

This report on DeVry Long Island City, New York is invalid!

AUTHOR: BigBoy - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, June 23, 2009

Anybody with some education would know that this person is not telling the truth.
Does it make sense that the interviewer destroyed his resume, because he went to DeVry, and then called him up for an interview?

I don't really get why people expect DeVry to be like an Ivy League school. Is it because of the reputation? DeVry is just like any average universities. There are lot of people graduated from state universities that don't have a job, they blame the market, not the school. Do you think everyone that graduated from Georgia Tech or Virginia Tech have a job? I know a bunch of guys graduated from well known universities that still looking for a job.

If you really want to blame DeVry, blame them for giving opportunities for people to get college education.
