I ordered DCA's internet based business program, paying only $2.97 for the initial application. The company is nothing more than a front for selling you a $40 per month web hosting site for your "new internet based company". Check GoDaddy.com, 1&1.com, or any other web hosting service and you'll see what a ripoff this is. You will be offered many "free" ways of using the internet to start a business, all of which cost more money. You can find these same companies on the internet without going through DCA.

The first problem is that the day following my sign up and payment of $2.97, I began receiving a minimum of 20 emails a day which were all spam. I know the spam email either originated from DCA or my address was sold or stolen because the username I signed up with on DCA is the name that was included in ALL the spam emails, and is a name I used nowhere else on the internet.

Then today a charge of $138.67 was charged to the same credit card I used to pay DCA. This was a fraudulent charge posted as "EXCELPRO8004269694". When I called this 800 number to inquire about the charge, all I got was a recording that said "Call the talk line at 800-382-TALK for exciting people nationwide." Since I have never used this card on the internet before DCA's charge, it is obvious where the charge came from.

This fraudulent site needs to be shut down by the attorney general in whatever state it is operating out of. And the sooner that is done the fewer people will be scammed.

You were scammed..

AUTHOR: Ronny g - (USA)

POSTED: Sunday, November 07, 2010

..and this is why you must research before giving out and credit/debit card / bank account info online.

For example..if you had simply googled "Direct Commerce Academy" you would have found...(and bear in mind this is only after I searched for less then two seconds), the reports seem to be endless. Yes..you were ripped off big time..but this is avoidable. Please let others know not only that this company is a SCAM..but to not be so naive to just give out account information without doing a little search/investigation FIRST!

Is the Direct Commerce Academy a real thing?

A friend of mine had an add pop up while she was checking her email that said something like " earn $5000 working from home, click here" and she did. How can she find out if this is a real thing or not. I can bet that it is not. Thanks for any help.

Yes it is real, it is a real scam so please whatever u do don't give them any of ur personal info or u will be billed 2.97 and after 4 or 5 days another 139.95 and then they will charge 39.99 monthly!!! Plus if u try to cancel they still charge u and never refund anything, u have to actually cancel whatever credit card u gave them!! So please learn from my own stupidity and DON'T DO IT!!!

I signed up for Direct Commerce Academy under the belief that I would only be charged the $2.97. Later I found out that I was also charged $139.95 (non refundable) plus the charge of $1.12 for the service fee of and international transaction. Turns out the company is in Belize. I went on the site to contact and found only a phone number 877-875-6080 which turned out to be in Utah. I called the number (on a Sunday morning) and talked to an Eric. I told him I was not happy because I was Charged $139.95 when there was no mention of this charge on the site I went to. I was only told of the $2.97 charge. I said I wanted my money back or I would be going to an attorney. What they did was illegal it is fraud. Eric had me stay on the line and then came back and said the company would refund my $139.95 in 7-10 business days and that I would get an email closing my account with them as I had requested. told him if I don't get it back in 7-10 days I will go to an attorney.

I can see why you put this question in the "Wikipedia" category. Being that Wikipedia and the Wikimedia Foundation that runs it are perpetually committing business fraud, the issue is very appropriate for this spot.

Good luck putting a stop to the Direct Commerce Academy. I wonder if they have the headquarters address of Wikia, Inc.?

Direct Commerce Academy - why is Yahoo Home page advertisizing for them.?

I was under the impression I was receiving a trial kit for 5 days for the sum of $2.97. I never did receive the kit and was charged an additional $139.95. After confronting them they agreed to refund $70.00. I have contacted by bank and after 30 days they are going after the remainder of my money.

Please advise people to research these online "work at home" sites before giving them any money whatsoever. This is not a good company and should be put out of business.

Things are not always what they seen on the internet, lots of scams. They pay Yahoo to advertise, probably with a fictitious name that hides the real business. Then it's buyer beware. Yahoo is not responsible if someone gets involved with them. On line work at home sites are 99% scams. You can complain to the Better Business Bureau. They handle scam complaints.

Direct Commerce Academy scam gets lots of hits online

  • August 26th, 2010 11:43 am ET
One new scam getting attention online is the Direct Commerce Academy scam, with wary customers asking Google for all sorts of info for Direct Commerce Academy, and finding out information about the scam.

Webmasters who run their own websites have the ability to examine the types of search terms that bring web visitors to their sites -- and that's how this journalist discovered that "Direct Commerce Academy" and "Direct Commerce Academy scam" are popular terms.

It was an inadvertent discovery, but consumers who've bought into scam ads like those run by MyInternetCashTactics.com and a plethora of others have been led to buy "Direct Commerce Academy" kits that they think will only cost a few dollars, but end up being a lot more.

When "Direct Commerce Academy" no doubt appears as an approximately $139.95 charge on their credit cards or debited from their bank accounts, then they discover the terms and conditions link that some of these places put at the bottom of their sales pages, telling the real charges:

"Direct Commerce Academy: When submitting this order, you agree to the trial offer for only the online shipping and handling fee of $2.97, which will provide you with instant access to our entire system. Once your three-day trial period is up, you will be charged a one-time fee of $139.95. Following this activation fee, you will receive a monthly charge of $39.95 for three months for full access to the training course."

According to one pissed-off consumer, Direct Commerce Academy is a company based in Belize with a contact phone number based in Utah.

Based on other research, plenty of these similar scams are based in other countries.

Thankfully, Google cracked down on the ones using their name -- and the FBI Internet Crimes folks are catching up with more of these guys.

Now if major websites would just stop accepting the scam ad networks, this would help to shut down the scammers even more.
