Directv Rejects Condo Customers for AA Bonus Miles El Segundo, California

I decided to ditch my cable TV to take advantage of an offer by Directv and American Airlines to get 10,000 bonus miles by signing up for Directv. I attempted to sign up for service via www.aa.directv.com but was unable to complete the final purchase. I also called the official number 800-375-5752 for assistance. The instructions to get the bonus points said I MUST sign up one of these two ways. The Directv representative said that because I live in a condo, Directv uses 3rd-party service companies to install the system. (The same is true for apartments.) Because of their arrangement with the 3rd-party company the rep could not sign me up but instead referred me to the 3rd-party company. This 3rd-party company knew nothing about the bonus offer but since there was no other way to get Directv, I decided to give it a try and hope Directv would honor the bonus for me being a new customer.

There is not one sentence in the small print about the bonus not being available to condo customers. They have a ton of small print with a bunch of other exceptions but not this one. I think it's a fraud they advertise this for ALL new customers but then effectively reject condo customers because their own system and business practices do not allow us to use the "official" website and 800-number. I am a new Directv customer (not the 3rd-party's customer). I signed a 2-year contract. I pay Directv each month. I should be give my stupid 10,000 bonus miles!
