We had DTV with the insurance plan. The Phillips DVR worked well for 3 years. We moved and took the "easy moving plan" that got you a new DVR. The new DVR was a DTV proprietary brand with less features than the Phillips brand, so out with the new and back to the old. The standard box in the bedroom began acting up. The customer service troubleshooting takes over an hour. Two failed replacements later, I suggested the new DVR (in my basement). All worked well. The Phillips unit began to fail. Each trouble shooting method took an hour to get through on the phone (and a re-boot) only to find out over the course of the next few days that it was not the cure. DTV offered a replacement unit that would not be delivered and installed for twenty (20) days.

I cancelled and went to DishTV; no Sunday Ticket by the way. They are now chasing me for $214.12. I have tried to "resolve amicably" as per the customer agreement. They credited me $2.14.

I pointed out that I paid one-hundred cents on every dollar of every invoice on time for my entire time of service. This included the insurance protection plan. I pointed out that 20 days was unacceptable.

I was met with the 2-year cancellation (verbal) agreement argument. I pointed out the the Statute of Frauds requires, among other things, that if an agreement cannot be carried out in one year or less, it must be reduced to writing to be enforceable. It has fallen upon deaf ears. Focus Receivables was the first collection agency and now it's Nationwide Credit.

The account is disputed; put it to suit or go away.
