This is one for the books. I've had DTV as my satellite provider for over a year. Last summer they merged with USSB and send their customers a letter that said, "If you don't want to change your service you need do nothing." I didn't want to change so I did nothing. They they added another HBO channel to my service that I didn't want and started charging me an extra $2 on my bill for it every month.

I wrote to them 3 times about it but never heard back. Of course, you cannot get them on the phone. Anyway, I started holding back the $2 and paying just for the service that I had ordered. They began putting a $5 late charge on my bill. So my bill is now over $70 in late charges. I wrote one final letter telling them again what happened and to fix it or I would complain to the Better Business Bureau. DTV turned off my HBO completely. How stupid!

Anyway, I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and their California office is supposedly handling it. But, I've heard nothing from DTV and the BBB doesn't respond to my email. BBB just says on their web site that many complaints have been made against DTV and that most of them have been solved when DTV contacts the customer. That hasn't happened.

I've found that I can't just get rid of DTV and get another satellite service easily. I own my Sony dish and other providers use other dishes. My only option is to get rid of my dish entirely and buy one of those really big ones but I'd rather shut down my service entirely than spend even more money for something that still may not work. I am already out the money for the Sony dish.

Hey... I can understand your frustration, but it only takes under 2 minutes to talk to Directv. Just call them up and talk to them over the phone. If you are sending the letters to the address your bills go to, wrong answer. Companies like Directv have fullfillment centres to handle all the billing, usually banks themselves. So, as you can see, banks usually don't care to forward the mail. If you are so concerned about this, call them and I'm positive they will fix it with you while you are on the phone. You will never know, unless you try. But just to sit back and complain and not even try is plain stupid. Sounds like a simple case of laziness to me.
