I urge all potential customers of Directv to ask the questions I have listed below so that you don't get caught up in a two year contract you cannot afford.
Tell the Directv sales rep before you commit to a package how many Tv's will be used? Ask the sales rep what is the monthly cost of each TV per room ($6.00 per tv) the monthly cost of rental box ($25.00), cost of monthly protection plan($7.99). When these questions are answered, the customer will then have the option of knowing the real price for the package they have selected instead of the one on the website. I would have preferred to forego all the credits and begin my service with Directv at the real monthly cost. If Directv were to develop this strategy, there would be a million less complaints regarding deceptive pricing to customers when they opt for a package.
My Directv 150 Channels at $61.99 monthly is going to actually cost me $108.99 when all credits are exhausted. I have been a customer for 14 months now, and they are still using these credits which I did not ask for. I never know from month to month what credits I have used, and how many I have left. Every month my bill either goes up or down so I never know what I will be paying until they release their monthly statement. No matter what plan you select, be prepared to pay over $100.00 monthly.

False Pricing on TV Packages
AUTHOR: PattiS - ()
SUBMITTED: Sunday, November 24, 2013
Do not expect go get any help from Directv once you are locked into their two year contract. We have three paid subscription sources to view TV. DISH, DIRECTV and TWC in the area I live in. All of them practice unethical sales pitches, and false pricing to new customer on their selected TV packages, and we, as their customers, are held in bondage until our contract is up. Who do we go to after we have used all three companies and gotten "ripped off" by all of them. ABSOLUTELY NOWHERE and they know it. Since there are no government regulations to hold these companies responsible for their dirty deeds, they know we are just spinning our wheels when we complain about their unethical billing practices. I live on a fixed income and TV is my only source of entertainment. Whenever there is a substantial monthly increase on my billing statement, it is difficult to find another source to pay it within my monthly budget.
The only advice I can give anyone who is signing up for Directv (my current subscriber) is not to sign up for Auto Bill Pay. If you do, you are giving the company total access to your credit card to use anytime they choose to add additional charges to your paid subscription. I refused to sign up for Auto Bill Pay and I am now paying an extra $10.00 each month as punishment. I received a Ripped Off report response from Directv on 11/6/2013 and it basically stated, "if we receive enough complaints we might consider making changes to our company's pricing policy". How many complaints does it take? 1 million, 2 million or more. More customers need to file complaint reports if you are unhappy with Directv and let them know we do count!!! Also, tell them that you do not want to receive their "new customer" credits. You will have two years of erratic monthly billing until their spaced out credits are used up. Just remember nothing is free in this world, even though Directv may tell you it is.

Directv Billing Questions Unresolved
AUTHOR: PattiS - ()
SUBMITTED: Sunday, November 10, 2013
It has been five days since I filed a complaint against Directv for giving customers false billing information when they commit to Directv for two years on a particular programming packaging that is shown on their website. I have not heard anything from them except for the message I received the day I filed the complaint. I am also very concerned about the $10.00 monthly fee added to my bill every month because I will not sign up for Auto Bill Pay. Regretfully, I did not mention this additional charge in my initial complaint.
Thank you for writing. My name is Anne and I am a Customer Service Specialist from DIRECTV’s email department. I can see that you have been with us for quite some time. I understand your comment about our promotional offering, I would be glad to look into this matter for you.

If it makes you feel any better, they all do this. I got suckered the first time and I learned to ask all the questions you asked plus the most important one.
What, exactly, will be my bottom line monthly bill. I want that in writing. That should be easy and fair enough unless they are intentionally being devious.
