I would not normally complain about a company and I have never complained about Directv till now. I have been a loyal DirecTv customer from 2000-2003 and then 2004-present so over 13 years.
I am in the process of having to move and the building we are moving to does not allow satellites. There is also a city ordinance that does not allow satellite dishes unless they can be out of view. The building we are moving to does not have any location that would be out of view.
Now you would think that they would understand the situation but they are fighting me left and right saying the owners of the building have no right to deny the installation of the dish and the city cant have such an ordinance only. I see why the city has such a law, could you imagine living in a building with 20 dishes on the side of the building or on the roof???
I have spent over $15,200 or more during the time we have been customers. You would think they would be like ok we understand and would be more than happy to waive the fee as long as you return the equipment. Well they arent, they are saying if you don’t do this or don’t do that there will be more fees over the $200.00. I never in my life have seen such rudeness from the reps I speak too, and when I move again, I will no longer come back to DirecTv they have lost my business for life.

No appartment complex can deny you to have a satellite dish installed, although your balcony will have to face south and if there are no obstructions like trees, other buildings, etc, where the dish needs to pointed, then you can have directv installed, with an extra fee such as a tripod or a rail mount. If they deny you this, then you need to contact the FCC.
I have a complaint with customers, a standard installation means (and I am aware the customer service does not tell you this in advace, because they would lose customers over this issue) - so you need to have good working coax at each and every location (up to 4 receivers) in a customers home and the dish can be mounted on the over hanging eave. Any additional custom labor charges such as drilling holes to run new cable because a customer does not have coax in that room or not the corect coax in older homes, pole mount, rail mount, under eave mount, J mount, tripod, etc.... which is not part of a standard installation, it is extra. Because cable, concrete, poles and the mounts are not free to the techs, they have to buy these things and it takes the techs more time to install, the fee reflects additional LABOR to install. And if specifie "LABOR" for installing such equipment.
To you TECHS out there, news flash - if the customer says they will pay at a later date and you have a "form" reflecting such an agreement you can put a lien on the property even if the customer is a renting. First you need to find out who the owner is, county records will provide you with that info. Next send them a certified mail stating that. If they do not comply then a lien will be placed on your property. Trying to take the customer to small claims court will cost you more than the actual labor cost and their is no guarantee that they will collect.

First of all, maybe I am a consumer who is sick and tired of being nickled and dimed by companies these days. You are on the who sounds like a child. If you have nothing constructive to contribute to this report, then move on.

So YOU are the one making the choice to move. YOU are making the choice to WHERE YOU move. Yet THEY are the badguys for not allowing YOU out of the contract that YOU agreed to. More then a bit of self-entitlement there. THEY cannot control WHEN and WHERE YOU move to. Which means it IS NOT their responsibility to give YOU a pass on the contract that YOU signed. This entire situation is of YOUR own doing yet YOU expect THEM to just let you out of YOUR contract. Yea, YOU are not really that bright huh? THEM telling YOU NO is NOT being rude. YOU are confusing getting your way with "rude". YOU are the rude one. YOU make demands and have ASSUMED that THEY are supposed to give a d**n about YOUR LIFE!!!! Get over yourself CHILD!!!!! If you cant meet the terms and conditions of the contract YOU signed, not ONLY in good faith, but as a requirement of receiving the services, then YOU should just do without. Cable TV is NOT a nessesity of life. It IS a luxury. There are only so many service providers out there, keep pulling dumbass stunts like this and in a VERY short time, your credit will be in ruins and NO service provider will EVER give you ANY help. Pay the ETF fee because YOU are the one who has made the CHOICE to move. And act like a d*** adult for once in your miserable life.
