Ok so about a week ago they called me from "directv" promotions and asked for me, they had my name and address. They had a supposely special deal going on that for $360 they would put all channels and give us HD-Dvr's for all 4 rooms. Then they put on the 2 hour test to see if we liked it right, so after the two hours they called and asked how it was and if we liked it so then they requested that the $360 be paid in green dot Money Pack so we paid half and they said that after we paid the rest in 15 days they would send someone to come and install the DVR's. Everything sounded pretty legit but the reason I fell for it was that they acctually did put on all channels and they had all my info. It wasn't until the bill arrived of around $130 that we called directv costumer service and asked them why they were charging if we had paid half the promotion and still had 15 days to pay the other half so they replied saying they didnt know anything about such promotion so then we called the number that "directv promotions" had given us in case we had a question and they said to just throw the bill away, so after the 15 days we paid the rest and they said that the technitian would be there 2 days later so 2 days passed and we called them again at the "promotions" and asked what had happen they replied saying that we had to pay $120 for the receiver warranty... so fast forward to today 9/28/11 my bill arrived 1 day ago and they are charging around $200 for this months and interest for last months bill that wasn't paid. So again we call Directv costumer support and they said that we were scammed that no such promotion exists. My question now is how were they able to access my account and activate all the channels in the receiver?

WHEN YOU ORDER DIRECTV, BE PREPARED FOR ONE THING...
and just wait until you see your monthly bills....
(no matter what deal you were promised...they will tell you the credit will appear on your account in the next 1-24 months, may be split up into monthly amounts...and other BS).
NO ONE STOLE YOUR MAIL. YOU GOT SCREWED BY DIRECTV !!!

Someone is stealing your mail!

It seems very likely that somebody stole a DirecTV bill from your mail and this is how they had your name and address. Your DirecTV account number is also on the DirecTV bill. The mail thief simply pretended that he/she was DirecTV and called you. They had you wire money to them. They then used your account number from the stolen bill and then called DirecTV pretending to be you saying you wanted to upgrade to the main package. You need to file a police report and you may want to consider booby trapping your mailbox or pointing a hidden security camera or something at it.

I get stuff in the mail all the time. Companies wanting to sell me customer lists. Those who still have good credit and could pass the credit check. I personally wont buy into that. For the right price I bet I could go online and buy your info.
The dealer prebuilt the account before they came out to install the system. Then fed you a buch of lies. If it had been a honest dealer . Then they should have left you a signed copy of the contract.
I'm no longer a Directv Dealer. But most of the ads I see on tv say free equipment free install. Even Dish Networks Business rules says free equipment , free install and free DVR. Now Dish Net does have upgrade fee's for existing customers and if a new customer wants more than one of the same model receiver. But the promotions will change from time to time. Its best to call around to several Dealers to see if you get the same story. Not to settle for the first song and dance that comes along.
If I were you I would report this to the Police, BBB, your state attorney general office and you local tv station that might have an Consumer's Right Segment.
Directv got busted in December 2010 by all 50 state attorney generals offices. They settled the lawsuit for around 14 million. Call you state attorney generals office to see what complaints were against them. I would also ask them if Directv has to make things right for you . If one of their Dealers screws up.
The dealer wont be doing this much longer . They dealer will get charged back for the install and maybe even for the equipment. They will find a bunch of consumers to do this to and then go out of business. Before they get charged back big time by Directv.
It's people like that who give the rest of us a name. If you gave this company any personal information IE: bank account, credit card number and you SSN. I would keep an eye on your credit report. Whos knows what these individuals are capable of.
