After Directv sold the Sams Club package to my 90 year old mother, approved her credit and activated her account with a credit card, they proceeded the next day to send me an email saying "they were not able to proceed with the installation and the account will be cancelled until further notice." Please note again that she paid the activation fee for this account. My mother is moving back to her own home from a nursing care facility and I have an existing account with Directv, which I will cancel as I am moving out of country. I wanted to keep my account open as per their original instructions to insure no lapse in TV coverage for my mother until they installed her TV. Then they changed their tune the next day and said because I had an existing account with them since April of 2010 (no longer a package deal either...just a straight fee of $50 per month for 2 TV's) they would NOT honor her account with them, even though she was approved and paid for activation. Apparently they feel many people are scamming them to lower their monthly bills this way to receive a special package deal. This policy affects only homeowners, not renters. Ya know, if I wanted to scam them, I think I would have done it before! Over the past five years I paid more than the monthly package would have cost me to avoid being under their contract thumb. What a pity...that Direct tv operates from this viewpoint and would treat a 90 year old customer this way. Astonishing!
