discount tires sold me a set of direzza dr101 low profile tires for a mazda rx-8 with road hazard warranty. these tires were over 250.00 a piece and are supposed to be good for 50000 miles. after 25000 miles one tire kept going down, took tire to discount tire (4) different times to get it fixed. the last time they told me they could not fix tire any more, and would not give me a reason. when i pressured them for a reason they told me tire was cut with a knife. i asked them to show me where but they refused. then they told tires were wore out. i brought tires home, tires are not wore out discount tire did not want to honor they're warranty maybe because of the slow down in economy. i have been buying tires from them for over ten years for 2-3 vehicles, but will not buy anymore tires from someone who will not honor they're warranty.

I hope you find this information of some use. Firstly, the Direzza tires that you purchased (or any Dunlop performance tire, for that matter) have no mileage guarantee. The speed rating/treadwear rating on the tires would get you approximately 20-30k miles, if you're lucky. They are built for performance, not longevity. That's Dunlop's set-up, not Discount Tire. If you were incorrectly informed that they were built for that mileage, that is the salesman's fault for not knowing the correct information on the tires. As for the 4 repairs, if you purchased the "Certificate" for free replacement, that warranty should fully cover the tire replacement cost, even if there are multiple punctures in the tire. That is exactly what that warranty is/should be good for. Four repairs in one tire certainly qualifies as road-hazard, and even if you didn't purchase the certificate, the tire should be prorated at least to give you some credit toward the replacement. As for the "knife-slashing", unfortunately, vandalism isn't covered. However, if the case is such that they coudn't give you a legitimate reason for non-repair, you can contact either the store manager, or even the regional office. The phone number for the regional office in your area is located on the back of the envelope that your invoice is in. As an employee for this company, I do everything possible to help out every customer. And believe me, this situation occurs alot more than you would think. I do apologize for your inconvenient experience, and hope that everything gets sorted out so that we are able to keep you as a customer. Maybe you can also check to see if there is another location closer to home for you, and hopefully they can give you a more definitive answer and pleasant experience. Sorry for the inconvienience... Hope this helps!!!
