DishNET "With DishNET, you can do anything on the Internet you want to do!" Nationwide

What a bunch of BS! Satellite Internet has so many limitations that you cannot use the Internet to its fullest extent. Web pages take forever to load and sometimes won't load at all. And you can forget about HD videos - YouTube defaults to 480p. You can set it to HD if you want, but the video will skip like crazy.

DishNET is the most unreliable ISP I have ever dealt with. While it is normal for satellite Internet to go out during thunderstorms, it often goes out for no reason, sometimes for an hour or more. The modem will also reboot itself for no reason.

What pisses me off the most are the ridicuously small data caps. DishNET plans include 10, 20, or 30 GB of data per month, but you can only use half that amount. The other half can only be used during off-peak hours (2 am to 8 am). When you exceed your monthly limit (which happens frequently), your Internet speed will be throttled to dial-up speed (approx. 128 kbps) for the remainder of the month. You can purchase extra data in 1 GB increments, at $10 each.

There is absolutely no reason for these data caps other than to make extra money. DishNET claims that they are necessary in order to reduce congestion, but that's not true. Remember the good ol' days when cell phone plans included unlimited data and charged for voice minutes and texts? Cell phone carriers realized they could make extra profits by charging for data instead, hence the shift towards unlimited voice/texts and limited data. Some carriers are going as far as pushing their existing unlimited data users into capped data plans by throttling their speed once they reach a certain amount.

I encourage everyone to discontinue using DishNET. If they would improve the reliability of their service and increase their data caps to reasonable levels, they would have many satisfied customers. Unfortunately, corporations are more concerned about profits than customer satisfaction.
