My girlfriend loves pizza. On the way home from her aunt's house there is a Dominos Pizza and she use to pick up pizza for dinner.
After 2 years of this, I was unable to keep quiet about the lack of toppings on my pizza. Pepperoni is large and flat, covers a wide area. I always order sausage & mushroom, so mine looks like it has less meat than hers. So her pizza looked OK, but we both agreed that there was never enough meat on either pizza.
Rather than complain about the dwindling toppings (as it seemed to get worse over time), we began ordering double the meat. That only worked one time. The next order looked just like before, slack on the meat, but this time there wasn't much of anything! I'd had enough!
I called them that night and told them I knew that they were being slack on toppings. They tried to appoligize but I told them this isn't the first time and that they obviouly are trained to be "light" on toppings. The manager said I didn't know what I was taking about.
That's when I added that I worked at 3 different Dominos Pizza places in the past and I could make pizza nearly as fast as anybody they have working for them! (working in a Charlotte N.C. store, you get fast or you get fired!)
I was taught to make Pizza by one of the "top dogs" (John) in the business.
I helped run several stores and made good money.
Pizza costs are small. The profit margin at a normal store was 55% back in the late 80s (dunno about now). The food cost is a small portion and we were taught to "load 'em up". Cheese was the only thing we were told was costing a premium price, so don't go overboard with it.
So, to be chintzy on the meat would be a bad move.
I'll never buy a Dominos Pizza again. (not since 2003)
Pizza Hut tastes better anyway.
I guess you get what you pay for.

NEVER go to Pizza Hut or Dominos.

Buy your pizza from a mom-and-pop type shop. They are nearly always better made, better tasting and not stingy with toppings.

It doesn't matter that Dominos is on the way to your girlfriend's aunt's house. There is ALWAYS something better just a bit away. Do not encourage corporate chain philosophy!
