This past month we received a bill from Dynowatt in the amount of $713.66. Our bill the prior month was for $282.25. I called Dynowatt to see if there was a mistake. The person I talked to said there was no mistake, and that Dynowatt had increase my rate from 14.5 per kilowatt to 26.5. I told the lady I was talking to this was not right without notifying us. She said Dynowatt had a right to increase their rates without having to notify us.
She also stated that Dynowatt could increase the rate to what they though was fair them. I told the lady that since that was the take on this issue, I would be looking for another company. She stated, if that the way I felt fine. We have been with Dynowatt for about 3 years if not more. To be treated like this was wrong. We changed from Dynowatt to another company that same day.

A lot of companies did the same thing

I switched from Reliant to Dynowatt. I found their prices were outrageous.
If you remember, oil prices and natural energy prices were out of control last year. Remember going to the gas pumps and paying double?
If you're not locked into a rate -- the companies can raise the rates outrageously. Is this right? Of course not.
In California the electricity rates tripled in 2006. Triple digit energy costs are nothing in Texas, but we weren't used to it in California. My electricity bill for energy during the 100 plus temperatures was normally $40. My electricity bill went up to $75.
I currently have a two year locked in rate with Dynowatt and have been very pleased.
