We had our Ester Williams pool installed the last week of June, 2008. That's when the trouble began. We took our old pool down to save some money. Eagle Pool had their escavating guy come over and prepare the ground for the new pool. In doing so, he ran over our septic tank and cracked the manhole cover even after he marked it off. But, he swears he didn't run over it. And we had nothing but problems with the septic tank ever since. IE: Had to pump out the dirt that went into the tank after it rained. Had to buy a new manhole cover and the tank is cracked on the top and Mr. John Kleba says its not their fault and "the tank is 20 years old, that's what they are supposed to do".
Then the pool is installed and the liner, which was supposed to be uniform in color, had a discolored section in the bottom which looked like a racing stripe in the middle of the pool...and Eagle Pool installed it anyway..knowing it was bad. Then, when we got in our NEW pool..the base was so uneven and bumpy. You could feel and see the rake marks through the liner. Plus, the sand was so soft that you could physically move it around through the liner with your foot. This was supposed to be tamped?? Needless to say we called and talked to John Kleba.
He sent his installer out, 2 weeks later to check out our complaint. Told him we wanted it redone and a new liner. Now the fun begins!! Now, it took us 5 days to get the pool delivered to the house when we signed on. It took 2 months to get a replacement liner. Even more fun...the installer drops off the pumps to pump out the pool and tells me to watch them over night while using my electric AGAIN! Do I get reinbursed for this? NO WAY!
So, they install the new liner, refill the pool and screws up the liner near the pool inlet!!!! Had to wait another 2 weeks to get him back out to the house and fix the inlet. WOW!! Just in time to close the pool!!What I didn't mention: we had a family reunion scheduled. That had to be cancelled due to the pool area wasn't completed. Does Eagle Pool care? NO! Couldn't install the deck because the pool had to be redone again. Does Eagle Pool care? NO! Damage to the Septic Tank. Does Eagle Pool care? NO Any reimbursement for electric, inconvienience, septic tank, etc?? NONE!! Had over $60 worth of pool chemicals that basically got pumped out into the street....what does John Kleba give me? 2 bags of SHOCK!!! Doesn't anyone care how they do a job anymore?
I am a local contractor for home improvements and I care about EVERY job I do and am accountable for EVERY thing I do while in a homeowners house. We also have 3 other families that want a pool installed. They asked us about Eagle Pools and I told them that their service and installation SUCK!! Find someone else. I referred them to a pool company that we were going to use and didn't!!Sure, John Kleba came out with his side kick Greg the escavator and decided that my property damage is on me and they're not going to do anything about it. Funny thing, I didn't have any septic problems until they drove over the tank. Oh yeah....John Kleba called it "the tank and lid are part of the natural aging process". The way I translate this is: Go F&$K Yourself Mr Manetti!!

Faulty Liner Again and poor installation

Well, it's been almost 5 yrs since our pool was installed by Eagle Pool and Spa and it has been nothing but problems. At this point we are ready to tear the pool down and forget the whole idea of having one! We opened the pool this season only to find out that the liner had come undone and lost about 12" of water. It washed out some of the base material and some side reinforcement. The liner was not ripped or anything like that, but it was very loose.
Called Eagle Pools and discussed the problem with Bill Stahl. He did come right out and we could not determine why the liner seperated from the locking channel. Maybe too much water on top of the pool cover, but I doubt it because we have a liner pump and always pump off all the water except for approx 1". And this year, we did not remove any of the pool water. So it was totally full 1/2 up the skimmer box.
At first he told me it was not under warranty and they would not cover it. We talked for awhile and he decided to do the labor for free and I was to pay for the water and a new liner. I found an EW liner dealer in NJ and purchase the liner there and saved approx $300 from what Eagle Pools wanted for their liner. It did come in with some rub marks all over the liner from the box falling apart and shipping, but the liner was still good and the company I purchased it from told me they would guarantee the liner and the water if it failed on assembly.
Eagle Pools would not give any warranty because it was not purchased through them. Okay...so just do the labor and I'll take the chance with the liner. Needless to say, the liner was fine and the pool was assembled and full with water. No problem until we got in! The base was the worse job ever! Bumpy, uneven....I have a pitchers mound in the middle of the pool because they said they had to remove 2" of the sand base. No cove around the sides of the pool and there are quite a few vertical lips in the base liner. They told me when the water is water to try and plunger them out. Yeah right! I called another pool installation company and they told me that the liner will tear if I do that. They also said they should have heated the liner with a hair dryer or hot water to stretch out the base before they put in the water. I did opt this time to put liner locks on the liner, just in case of another failure!
I have to say, Bill Stahl was courteous and understanding but the fact remains that Eagle Pools installations are very poor. I will NEVER contact them again even if the pool fails this year. I'm done! They're service dept sucks along with their installations. Just for the record..we paid originally over $7K for the initial pool, $1500 this time around and about $250 in lost chemicals for 3 liners now....plus a cracked septic tank which is getting replaced this year because of the first installation. That will probably run us around $6K.

I thought that this website is for the consumers! That, like when you have a bad appliance, or a lemon of a vehicle, you would write to consumer reports to complain or tell about the product and or services. Am I correct about this? What happened to freedom of speech? Is that no longer allowed in this country? I am/was just trying to let other homeowners know about a company that we used to install our pool. Make them aware and what to look for in case they would use this company...or maybe not choose them at all. I received a letter today 12/2/08 from Eagle Pools/John Kleba threatening me to remove my post on this website or he will seek "compensatory and punitive damages as prescribed by the laws of the state of PA"....and that my post "is totally without merit and constitutes defamation". I have 10 days to remove the post or else! My "ripoff report" does not state anything false! Yes, John Kleba and his side kick Greg DID come out to my property and say there was nothing wrong with the septic tank...but, told me that they would be happy to fix it. Now, think about that for a minute. If they are willing to fix it, for free, then they are saying that they did it. Right? Why would they waste the time to fix something that they said they didn't do? Plus, Mr. Kleba stated that he would send us a $100 gift certificate for the trouble to his store. Never saw it! I will state that the pool is fixed correctly NOW! The liner was replaced and repaired, the second time around. Yes, they did come back and fix the inlet to the pool. So, should I remove the posting? I don't think I should. It is posted to help other homeowners decide on who to use to install their swimming pool. I can only lead the horse to the water hole, I can't make him drink the water!
