I had bought a 2001 Volkswagen Jetta from the Easterns in White Plains. I had got the extended warrenty so that I made sure the vehicle was covered.
After about 5 months my engine nearly fell out from underneath my car and I had to get it towed. I towed back to Easterns just to have them to tell me to take it to the dealer. I took the Volkswagen to the dealership to have the dealer tell me that the motor-mounts on the car were broken. I paid the $200 deductable and had the car fix.
Less then a month later my check engine light comes on and the cars is riding rough when I get to about 60mph. I had to take the car back to the dealership to have them to tell me that the car's catalytic converter needed to be replaced and also that the oil pan needed to be replaced also. Plus 2 recalls. $93.00 deducted.
Third time my engine is whistling while I am driving. Took the car back to the dealer to have them to say to me that the car was in an accident and that the motor-mounts broke. Also that the only way the car could be fixed is that I would need a new engine, which was is about $5,000.
I had got a carfax copy of my car that stated no accident in the reports of the vehicle. Later to find out that the car was in an accident in 2004, just about 2,000 miles less then what was on the car when Easterns bought it.
The car is still under warrenty, GE refuses to fix it and Easterns refuses to replace it or refund my money. I went to arbitration with Easterns just to have them throw away my case, also they had looked up their own carfax report and the accident is stated in the report in May 2006. Easterns says they aren't responible because they didn't know about it. What should I do in my case?

I Love Easterns

I love Easterns! I purchased 3 cars from them and have never encountered the problems that you're experiencing. I guess it's just the luck of the draw when you're dealing with pre-owned cars. Besides, it seems as though your real problem is with Carfax.
You said their report indicated that the car hadn't been in any accidents. Why not challenge them on the issue. I'm sure Easterns used the same report to determine whether or not it was a quality car to sell.
Anyways, sorry for your experience. They say when a customer has a great experience, no one hears about it but when a customer has a bad experience, at least 10 people are told. Since I had many great experiences with Easterns, I couldn't pass up the opportunity to share them with you - the 1st of 10 other people that I plan to tell.

maybe you should take it up with the dealer who supposedly put new motor mounts in the first time. Wouldn't they have known the car was in an accident the first time they worked on it? Sorry but I don't know what people expect from car dealerships who cater to people with bad credit. it really is a shame, they take full advantage knowing these people are desperate and will take anything they can get, and they end up paying dearly for it.
