Purchased a 1998 subaru from eddie accardi jeep/subaru on sept19,2006 with an extented factory subaru 24 month warranty for aditional 1750.00.b car had developed an oil leak in engine.when We brought the car back 65 days later,we were informed that we had no warranty and the car was sold as is.I assured the service tech that we had a warranty and showed him the SUBARU SECURITY AGREEMENT [w53375]stating that.he replied that Subaru does not underwrite warranties on that old of a car.

I called Subaru factory and they confirmed what eddie accardi service said.I went back to the salesman that sold us the car and he agreed to refund us the warranty money. Now we owned a car with no warranty. This car was for our daughter going to college out of state and we needed the security of a factory warranty.we would have never purchased the car without the SUBARU SECURITY AGREEMENT.our daughter needed to obtain service at any Subaru dealer that was the purpose of buying it.

Eddie Accardi agreed to give us a credit of 5000.00 toward another car but we just paid 8000.00 65 days earlier. Then they agreed to 7000.00.but every car we looked at was 2000.00 more than what Eddie Accardi had{SAME CAR}advertised on the internet. They claim they have no responsibility to us what so ever.If the car had not had the option of an extended warranty we would have not considered purchasing it

missing the point

AUTHOR: Robert - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, March 01, 2007

Dear Robert, the point of the purchase was the extented warranty.the oil leak is of no matter if the contract was based on the fact the warranty was contingent upon the sale. The leak was not repairable under warranty or any other repairs, peroid.Hence, one is no good without the other or the purchase would have never taken place. Regards

#1 Consumer Suggestion

Keep or trade the 98 Sub

This is a 98 Sub, is it a Forrester? How many miles? Where is the oil leak? Top of the engine, front? Back?

They agreed to buy it back for $7K and you paid $8K. You got your $1700 warrantee back. Looks like you can loose $1K but then you have to spend $2K more to buy off the lot. Hence, you loose $3K with this dealer.

I remember paying $6.2K for a $8.5K used 1995 or so with 90Kmiles Eagle Talon in 2000 so my daughter could go to a local college. So taking $2K off a used car in the lot is normal. But you have no negotiating room here. Plus the dealer crossed you once already.

I only buy used cars from luxury car dealers with older clientel.

Question can you fix the car elsewhere for less than $1K? Do it keep the car. Does the daughter like the car? Yes, keep it. It only has to last 40K more miles over the 4 years.
