The script described by former employees is correct. At no time, do they mention the fee is nonrefundable; even when cancelled within hours of committing. After reviewing the conversation, I decided the timing was not good and emailed a cancellation. Multiple emails and conversations followed resulting with Galon informing me the $79 trial 1st offer fee is non-refundable. The difficulty in reaching elocal listing as described in the other complaints is also true. In Alabama, we have 3 days to change our mind on an offer that is unsolicited. I can't believe this isn't universal. I, also, don't understand how I received the call from elocal listing originally as I am on the Federal "Do Not Call" list. They did tell me they would do a better job than www.vrbo.com in getting a response to my website so that is probably where they obtained my phone number. I thought Andy Bukata was a nice young man and believable. I wonder if he even knows, he scammed a grandmother. I found this website by googling elocal listing which I should have done originally and certainly will from now on. So I guess the $79 was not totally lost!

Elocal is NOT above the law . . . CHARGE BACK!

California has a three day rescission period too! I'm sure you would recall if when you were on the third party verification that is recorded, it does not state non refundable. You have every right to contact your credit card company and do a chargeback or dispute, also stop any future charges with Elocal Listings. Have them prove that they are above the law and that there fee is non-refundable. Gayland is a nice guy, and only doing his job as instructed. Make sure you keep your e-mails so your credit card company can research for you.
Sales is required to run your number in the Do Not Call List prior to calling and keyword search for availability. They can get around it like you stated since you published your number on the internet (vacation rentals by owners). Most of the time we hear they don't check and run the risk of disciplinary action. It is all in the number of calls they make. Check to see if VRBO has a policy against contacting owners to solicit services, just like Craigslist and many others. We have been nailed on that too!
Don't cave in and accept the loss of $79.00. Grandmother or not, Elocal scams anyone who answers the phone and gets persuaded to try the service. Please note, the service does work for some to a small degree, but we can not guarantee customers or phone calls, even though sales uses that in their sales pitch. Do I use the local listings to find businesses? Yes I do, but for the money people spend, the ROI is rarely there. Be smart and do it yourself for FREE. Feel lucky, we use to charge $258 to start and $159 per month.
The idea here is burn and churn the customers so we can sell our company and forget the clients brought on board.
