A call was placed to the box office at the Guthrie Theater in Minneapoils, MN.  The call went to Event Ticket Sales, even though it was not their number and it was the correct number for the Guthrie Theater box office. They identified themselves as the Guthrie Theater box office, and continued to represent themseves as the box office.

Two tickets were purchased.  They said that they were now $99, up from $61, with a service charge of $39 and mailing charge of $15, to be sent by Fed Ex.  They have not yet been received.  The confirmation showed it came from Event ticket Sale, LLC.

We sensed that something was not right, so we called another Guthrie Theater number and found that the Guthrie does not do business with Event Ticket Sales and and somehow, unknown to them, the call to the box office went to Event Ticket Sales.

We contacted the credit card company to dispute the charge. and placed a call to Event Ticket Sales to cancel the transaction.  I talked "Abigail", who refused to give me her last name, and she said that all sales are final, no refunds.  She denied that the call had been intecepted, claimed that the call had to have been to them directly.  This would have been impossibe, because there was no way we could have known the number.  She also claimed that the charge could not be reversed once the charge had been disputed, which is also not true.  I had disputed a charge before to another misrepresented vendor, and it was voluntarily reversed by the time the credit card company need to take action.

We at Event Ticket Sales are surprised at this complaint.  Let me address each concern raised by the consumer:

To begin with Event Ticket Sales is a ticket marketplace where consumers can use to locate tickets for events occuring throughout the country, and Canada. We are not affiliated with any specific event or event center.

When customers contact us there is a recorded greeting clearly stating our business name and not any theatre or event center name.  This consumer contacted us and would have heard the greeting prior to being transferred to a sales team member. At no time would anyone at our company state that we are the Guthrie Theatre; we do explain that we sell tickets for events at that venue but we are clear that our company is Event Ticket Sales.

As for the assertion that we "intercepted" their call to the Guthrie Theatre...impossible to do so.  We are not connected to the Guthrie Theatre and have a completely different phone number to contact us.  What may have happened, and does happen, is when the customer searched for their event, or event center, our website and/or contact information came up as a "hit".  This may occur because we advertise for selling tickets to this event center and many others.  Just as with any key word search many hits come up that may or may not be the searchers ultimate objective and it is up to the customer to weed through to identify their ultimate target.  We have not the technology to intercept phone calls.

Regarding the price of the ticket...each ticket has a "face value" which is set by the performer and/or venue. On top of this "face value" are service fees and processing fees collected by ticket issuers, facility fees charged by venues, and other fees affiliated with the primary sale of the ticket.  We set our own pricing structure, independent of the face value. Sometimes we might have many tickets left to sell before an event and our customers are able to benefit with amazing discounts well below "face value". In the case of pre-sale reservations or sold out events, we are able to locate the best available tickets that fans otherwise would not have access to which may mean a higher ticket price.  Bottomline is generally it costs us more on our end to obtain tickets.

It is standard practice in the event ticket industry that all sales are final. The only exception is if an event is cancelled and not rescheduled.  This was clearly stated with the customer at the time the order was placed.  We stand behind our tickets with a 100% guarantee that they will receive tickets that will gain them entry to the event-if the tickets didn't gain the customer entry we would provide a full refund.  It is not in our interest to sell tickets that would not provide entry as we would be refunding customers all the time and therefore go out of business.

As for the customer's assertion that he had not received his tickets...he told us he was not going to pay for these ticket

All of this was explained to the customer by our customer service rep, Abigail.  That brings me to the last issue...Abigail did not provide her last name to the customer.  It is not our policy to provide last names to our customers.  This is an issue of personal privacy and it is sad that in this day and age someone wouldn't understand the need to withhold information that someone could possibly use in a harmful way.  Abigail did inform the customer that she is the only Abigail that works in customer service, indeed she is currently the only Abigail that works for Event Ticket Sales.
