I arrived at the Madrid airport knowing that I would be in Europe for many months and needed internet access. I found an Exactta employee, or rather she found me, and had i known what was going to happen, I would have run away at that moment She informed that that with this sim card, I could use the phone and internet service in many countries throughout Europe and that all I had to do was turn on and off the wifi and data, to preserve my data. I spent lose to $400 USD thinking this purchase would last me several months and was important for work. She assured me that the cost was representative of Europe as she said "This is Europe, things are more expensive." She didn't once tell me that I had to use only VodaFone in Spain, otherwise it would be $20 USD per mb used. She also knew that I was going to be traveling to other countries, and never once was there a mention of what providers to use in other countries. Therefore, I thought it was a simple service of turning the data on and off while using wi-fi. I thought the ease of it explained the high price as well. That was my mistake!
Not even two weeks later, and without making one phone call on this service, the data was already gone. I got a $75 USD credit from them, but not once an offer to refund my money or give a bigger discount after learning after the fact how the service really did work, and seeing that it was the fault of their airport salesperson. This was their fault clearly. They didn't explain what the service really was and didn't inform me how to use it properly. Had I really understood how it works, I would not have purchased it.
I have not spent a lot of time and energy on trying to solve this during my holidays, and what a waste. I found a new sim provider in the Madrid Metro, which I could have for more than a YEAR for the cost of what I paid for less than 2 weeks with Exactta. THis mobile provider told me Exactta were "ladrone" and that is exactly what they are. THey find you at the airport, before you are able to know what the real offers are. Europe cell phones are not so expensive from what I can tell, at least in Spain, so this salesperson was lying through her teeth. I will be sure to let anyone I see at the airport know what this company is really about and I hope that they will make it right and refund me the money I spent for the service that didn't deliver and also required a lot of my time and energy to solve this problem.
