What appalling customer service!
1: Firstly the Exactta representative at the Madrid airport who
encouraged me to start off with a balance of 50 Euros (US $67.50) rather than a
lesser amount, assured me that should I lose the card, I would be refunded the
balance remaining.
2: So I paid a total of Euros 76.70 (US $103): of that amount I was informed that Euros 16.70 ($22.50) was for the Sim card and initiating the service, and the rest (US $67.50) was prepaid balance for phone calls @ Euro 0.45 per call. Yet your company stated that the balance remaining when my phone was stolen a few days later. was only US $ 51.90 and I hardly had used the phone (except for local incoming, which I had been informed was free) perhaps 6 minutes altogether.- But since I no longer had my phone I could not check the amounts charged to me.
3: You were unable to arrange for a replacement Sim card to be
delivered to me at Fumicino airport prior to my flight though I was never
advised of this.
3: Jonathan Carmona sent me an e-mail below that
included a (very cumbersome and un-user friendly) claim form , therefore
inferring that I would be refunded the balance upon claiming. At best a very
clumsy way of dealing with the issue. But I had no chance to fill out the
claim form as this was almost immediately followed (5 hours
later!) by the email from Exactta customer Service saying no refund would be
given. Not only appalling service and misleading statements but
incompetence as well!
5: I conclude my only sensible options is to abandon my balance of $51.90, no matter how infuriating! here is a simple calculation:
Amount required to reactivate my balance of US $51.90: I
would have to spend $15 for a new Sim card and $20 delivery for a total
additional cost of $35. So my net recovery is $16.90! How absurd
can you get? And this $16.90 would only enable me to make local phone
calls in Europe for calls for a grand total of 27 minutes.
Here is what I have done: I have paid 0.99 Euros (yes 99
Euro cents!) For 30 minutes of calls with Simyo in France ; and that
included free delivery of their Sim card to a friends address in France! (((link redacted)))
And I can make future calls for Euro 0.10 a minute.
I gather I am not alone in my complaints about Exactta's behavior: here is just one example: http://www.ripoffreport.com/communications-networking/exactta-communicatio/exactta-communications-exactta-3c41a.htm
If I have my figures and/or facts wrong , I await a reply to my last e mail to Exactta to enlighten me.
