ExpertLaw.com trolls, frauds, abusive Internet

ExpertLaw has a forum with the words "Ask a lawyer online," that invites the user to seek free legal advice from volunteer attorneys.  The people who reply are very likely not attorneys.  Often their "advice" is verifiably false, and more often than not the people of that forum use the circumstances of a post to bully and abuse the person seeking help.

For baring their circumstance in a time of need, in good faith that they will be helped, posters are degraded and villified.  The "advice" that follows runs counter to the poster's best interest, and often, statements made about the law are verifiably false.  Should some hapless person in a troubled time trust in the words posted there, then one may only guess the harm it would bring.

The designers of the forums do not make it clear that the people replying are not attorneys.  When the poster suggests that the repliers are not attorneys, they are insulted for it.  The atmosphere is either intentionally designed to ensnare innocents in bad "legal advice" or that tendency has simply been tolerated by the site's owner and operator.

These are not experts.  What they post is not law.  Do not trust them.  Do not tell them anything about your circumstances.  If you are in need of legal assistance, then seek an actual attorney.

Hopefully that site will be shut down before it causes too much harm.
