EZ1RATE Beware of Solicitors from EZ1Rate

I received a phone call from a "John Nash", employee ID# 11652 who stated he was from EZ1Rate. He told me I was eligible for a $500 gift card and a $200 gas card from Visa or Mastercard. I was 1 out of 32 people selected to receive this promotional offer. I would have to pay a shipping and handling charge of $6.00. After he verified my name and address, he asked for the account numbers on ANY of my credit cards. "John" said this was necessary to verify my identity. I told him repeatedly that I did not feel comfortable doing that and he eventually hung up.

Although, I was not a direct victim, I am concerned about others who may fall into this trap. "John" also supplied me with a telephone number 1-866-253-0257. Of course, this number is not in service. I looked at my caller ID and the call came from SSPL and the number was 1-480-543-1329. When I proceeded to call that number, an answering service stated "all operators are busy please try again later or leave your name and number and you will be removed from our calling list".
