Family Readers Club screwed over Norfolk New York

The Family Readers Club called me and told me that I could cet 5 magazines for 60 months for $49.95. I agreed to this price. The company the sent me a letter stating that I had agreed to pay them $49.95 per month for the next 23 months equalling the amount of $1198.80. They also said that they would not take the money out of my account until the following month. I then proceeded by caceling my debit card, just to find out that they had already withdrew the money, causing my account to be overdrawn thus, costing me more money. I decided to call them about cancelling the account. Their respnonse was that they could not cancel the account because they said that I answered all of their questions without hesitation. This survey was recorded on their side of the call (so they said). I told them that I had cancelled my debit card and that I wouldn't accept the magazines or bills that they will send me, and told them that if they didn't cancel the order and send me the money that they had already taken that I would look into taking legal action against them. The woman on the other end said she was going to bill me anyway and to enjoy the magazines. She then hung up on me. I have decided to just put return to sender on all that they send to me, and on the magazines I will add that the order was supposedlly cancelled, don't send anymore. I scanned the cancellation papers after I signed and dated them so I would have proof that I followed their policy. I am not sending my cancellation papers by certified letter, I am sending it directly through the mail with a letter stating that I will be talking to a lawyer and that I have evidence that shows that they are in the wrong. I just hope that enough people take action against this company to put them out of business for good ( if not put some of them behind bars).
