Family Readers Club These crafty ***holes screwed me over!! Norfolk New York

When I got roped into this to good to be true magazine scam I knew somehting was off. I was called by a person offering me a 1000 dollar shopping spree and in order to get this I agreed to a 1 time payment of 49.00 for a whole bunch of magazines. While in the process of doing this my phone lsot reception. I obviously thought that the transaction was finsihed because we never finsihed tlkaing.

I get a call a few weeks later saying my acount was still active and he assumed I wanted to cancell and I said yes. He told me they couldent cancel this acount but would move me to another acount and I could cancell that. The did so and gave me a number I could call in 10 days to cancel.

I was suspicious so I called this number. The women on the other end of this call told me that there compant had stoped doing buisness with the company who called me because they had been ripping people of and were using there crdit card machine making transactions in there name. I immiediatly tried calling to get to the bottom of this and was unable to get a hold of anyone.

Panicked I went to my bank and canceled my debit card and my chekcing acount and opened a new one. I htought everyhitng was over untill my bank stament came and I was missing 49.00 from fammily readers club, I was informed by my bank that this was a pending transaction and there was ntohting I could do but My acount should be ok for now, but I should continue to try and cancel this acount.

Today I finnaly get a hold of a human on the phone and tell her that I would like to cancel. She tells me that my acount is not subject to cancelation and that she has a recoridng of me agreeing to everything. I do recall them telling me I would be recorded but no one said anyhting about me not being able to cancel. I have a new chekcing acount and I have read some of these other reports and I guess I will be getting harrasing calls. How should I handle these calls when they come and will they really be able to legally do anyhitng to me for not going along with there scam ways.
