I paid Fathers Choice $750 to have them draw up papers to be filed with the courts in Washington Stae. I also paid $250 extra to have the process expedited and an another $112 for processing and serving of the papers.
They assured me they could have the documents ready for filing in less than two weeks. I did not recieve the first proofs until almost a full month had passed. There were numerous mistakes in the documents and so they had to be redone. I recieved the second set of documents a few days later (keep in mind they send documents by UPS and they have to be signed for so this was the second day of work I had to miss to sign for documents).
There were still a few corrections to be made...little stupid errors that were just from lack of paying attention. They asked me several questions and then couldn't even get the respondents name correct. Very frustrating.
I requested a refund on the $250 I paid for expediting the process, which was returned along with the $112 submitted for process/serving. Turns out this isn't even a service they provide.
After two months I finaly received the finished documents, signed them where I was instructed and sent them off to a certified process server to be filed. What happened next was outrageous. The documents were turned back by the court clerk because they were not acceptable to Washington State courts.
I then had to pay a Washington State attorney who specializes in family law $300 to look the documents over. She then sent me a list of errors along with a statement claiming the documents were a "joke".
Due to this I contacted Fathers choice and asked for a refund plus the $300 I paid the Washington State attorney. They never returned my phone calls or emails. I then had a law firm in California write a request to Fathers Choice requesting a refund...still no answer. A second letter was sent out but no response was issued.
Now I am trying to find out who the agent of process for Premier Family Services/Fathers Choice is so I can serve them papers but it turns out neither one of these company names are even registered in California, which is where they are located. This makes one wonder if this so no one can sue them.
I have since had to pay an attorney $3000 to handle my custody case plus other expenses to extensive to list here.
Not to mention the amounts paid to a law firm to have letters sent requesting a refund. All I wanted was a $750 refund...but now when you factor in time and out of pocket expenses it has cost me well over $7500.
Take my advice...if you need legal help, pay a qualified attorney and stay clear of this company.

certified, return receipt requested mail?
I'm shocked your attorney hasn't suggested this method of verifying a letter was delivered and receipted.

If you read the rebuttal from Fathers Choice you will see how eager they sound to resolve bad feelings and how they are willing to work hard and swift to right their wrongs. Well, it is all just lip service. They always use the heading "Resolve for claim blah blah blah.
So to comment on thier rebuttal, I DID send them an email and they are lying about not ever receiving one. Not to mention the numerous emails I sent in the past...all of which I have kept. Seven months worth.
Now, on Friday the 15th of August, three days after filing my initial report, I was finaly able to talk to a man at Fathers Choice named Craig. Craig acted appalled at my story and assured me he would try to help. He asked me if I could fax over a copy of the letter my attorney had previously sent requesting my refund...Craig claims he/Fathers Choice never received such a letter. This is another lie.
After Craig gave me a fax number, which I read back to him twice to verify I had it written down correctly, I once again sent over a copy of the letter my attorney had drawn up. After almost three hours passed I get a phone call from some woman at Fathers Choice telling me that Craig has instructed her to follow up and to see if I was ever going to send the fax I promised...evidently they had yet to receive it. She asked what number I faxed the letter to. I read the number off the fax transmittle sheet as this was the number the fax was received at. The lady then said she would look into the missing fax matter further and call me back. Guess what....I never got a call back.
I am sending the fax a few more times over the weekend and am anxious to see what line of BS I get on Monday.
