I received a "renewal statement" from whirlpool extended service plan advising me that my extended warranty was about to expire. "The extended service plan that you purchased with your technician ends November 3, 2012. You have a right to purchase protection under the Whirlpool Extended Service Plan program. Please detach the coupon below and mail with your payment for the amount indicated. Thank you for your prompt payment."

As both the Whirlpool washer and dryer have been problematic, I decided to purchase an extended warranty for both. My original warranty was with A&E/Sears, which has always been reliable and professional. This "renewal statement" was not from A&E/Sears. The statement came from Federal Warranty Service Corp disguised as a Whirlpool Extended Contract which I assumed came from A&E/Sears. I mistakenly purchased an extended 3 year warranty with Federal Warranty Service Corp. The renewal statement had all of the appropriate information, such as appliance brand, model number serial number and date of installation, leading me to believe they were legit. I mistakenly assumed (you know what is said about assuming!) that the offer was through A&E/Sears, when in fact it was not!  So when I recently called to have the dryer door repaired, I learned of Whirlpools deceptive techniques and my foolish mistake! I thought my contract was with A&E when in fact it was not. Additionally I learned that a 3 year contract with A&E/Sears would have been more then half the price less then what was charged by Whirlpool.

I am now canceling my contract with Federal Warranty Service Corporation/Whirlpool Extended Service Plans and will be charged additional money. However, now it's a matter of principal.

I will not purchased any Whirlpool products in the future and will tell anyone who will listen to me, to be vigilant regarding extended contracts.

The issue is with deceptive tactics...

The issue with Federal Warranty is not with their repair and/or response time. The issue is with the deceptive tactic they employ to secure extended service plans.

Federal Warranty Service Corp.

Want to add that the repair for my Maytag Refrigerator (by Maytag Extended Service Plan - Federal Warranty Service Corp.) has gone smoothly.  The Company was contacted via phone/email and a local repair service was used to fix the problem.

Do not know anything about the previous Complaint Filer, but do know that (so far) I have had good results with my Extended Service Plan.  Also, the cost of the plan has not been compared to other service plans available so I have no input regarding the cost.
