I took my paycheck to the Fifth Third Bank in Medina , OH on Saturday the 17th of May. I have receipt that shows that i did just that. After depositing i asked the teller when the funds would be posted. She replied the funds will be posted on the 19th of May. I decided to go out of town for the two days i have off Monday and Tuesday, so Sunday night I made online bill payments to ten creditors to be taken out on Monday the 19th. When i arrived home from my trip i checked my account and much to my suprise there was an overdraft fee of $330.00. I called and asked the online banking number and they said that any deposit made on saturday will not post till Monday night at midnight. OMG all my bills had came through and they charged me 33.00 a shot ten times 33.00. the deposit of saturday would not be creditied till the 20th. The slip says the 19th post date but the money was not available till the 20th. Why in my right mind would i have made those bills payable on the 19th if i knew in fact that there would not be money available till the 20th. After trying to talk to the bank they said that they could credit my account for $66.00. Wow very nice of them. But where is my $330.00. It was not a holiday. It was just any other day. My deposit slip says post date on the 19th. Not fair. I want my money back.

Jerri, if 5/3 'stole' from you, then you were the accomplice...

READ (that's right, READ) the terms and conditions YOU signed BEFORE you opened your account. If 5/3 acted in any way violating the terms and conditions YOU signed, then by all means sue them for losses and damages.

However, I think you will find that they posted transactions in accordance with THEIR terms and conditions, not yours. You see, Jerri, in the real world customers must abide by the BANK's terms and conditions, not their own.

This may come as a shock to you, but Saturday is NOT a business day. Every bank I know would have posted that money as available at midnight on Monday. Therefore, when you scheduled transactions drawn against your account before money was available to cover them, YOU overdrafted your account and are therefore GUILTY of stealing from yourself and handing the money over to the bank.

Sorry, no rip-off here...just another case of a person failing to READ and comprehend BEFORE a mistake is made.
