This is AT&T's fault more than their cronies at this company.

If you're ready to cancel your wireless account with AT&T, be prepared to go through hell.

My experience was first to call anc cancel the account. When I got them on the phone, they would not allow me to cancell the account with providing them with my "account password." I had never heard of an account password in all my dealings with them for years as a customer, much less now that I needed to cancell the account. They had always very willingly accepted payments over the phone and were always able to verify that I was who I said I was with the last 4 of my social security #.

I was told that my only choice was to physically go to an AT&T store and present them with an a state issued ID to prove I was who I said I was and they could help me.

So I got in the car, wasted precious money on gas and drove 12 miles to the nearest store. When I got there the guy behind the counter said.. "Oh, you don't have a password on this account." I called back to customer service fuming and told them to cancel my account. They finally did, but not before informing me that I owed over $500 in "early termination fees." Which was a lie! My contract had long expired with them.

Next thing I know, less than 30 days later, I get a bill for $1471.71 in "past due" fees-- but no detailed bill explaining what these fees are. When I try to get more information by calling AT&T, I am told that the bill has now been sent to a Collection Agency (Financial Asset Management Systems, Inc.) and that they now own the account- so they can't provide me with any information.

Does anyone know if there is a class action lawsuit against these organized mobsters? I'd love to sue them. All I read is how these guys keep violating the FCRA and other consumer rights. I'd love to sue them! Enough is Enough.

I urge you not to sign up for any services with AT&T and let me know if you have anything else to add.
