On 8/29/2018, I received a call from Reginald Hollis at First Data regarding a sales inquiry that I submitted on First Data’s website. Based on the information that he provided, I selected First Data as my credit card processing company for my online sales, and I enrolled in their Clover Flex POS solution for my offline/in-person transactions. Unfortunately, several of the fees/charges to be assessed were either misrepresented or omitted by Mr. Hollis, causing me additional unexpected delays and expenses.

Additionally, reaching out to Mr. Hollis (or anyone at First Data’s Customer Service phone number) only resulted in more misinformation, runarounds, and non-responses. As a result, not only has the launch of my online store been delayed by over 3 months, but I have been assessed hundreds of dollars in fees by both First Data as well as my bank. Since First Data has repeatedly refused to resolve the issues that they’ve caused, I’ve been forced to close my accounts with them.

Unfortunately, I didn't make this decision until after they caused me almost $900 in overdraft fees AND withheld another $1,000 in sales on top of that. STAY FAR AWAY FROM THESE SCAMMERS!

Resolved December 2018

AUTHOR: Tarrant - (United States)

POSTED: Monday, June 08, 2020

After First Data's SMB Client Management & Experience team reviewed all of the information regarding this case, they did resolve this issue and provided reimbursements/credits where they were due. My account with First Data is still closed, however that is due to an internal business change eliminating the need for credit card processing.

If/when we have a need for card processing in the future, First Data will likely be our first choice (although, I will still make sure to save every document and record every phone call, just in case).

As a result of forwarding a copy of my BBB case to First Data's leadership team, a member of their SMB Client Management & Experience team reached out to me regarding this matter.

They're in the process of investigating this matter further, and I will provide an update here once the case has been finalized.
