First National Government Grant ripoff North Carolina North Carolina

June 10th of 2005 i get a call from someone who claims the Goverment has a grant in the amount of 12,000 dollars for me. I think why in the hell would the goverment give me money if i owe money in back student loans. so i listen to the guy (he was hard to understand) i confermed my address, my name and my wife's name. Well then he told me about 100.00 i would get for the sign up and the fees that i would pay.

Well then it came time to give my Account Number and Routing Number. Well i give that to no one!! so i beat around the bush and told the person to hold on. so while i was "looking" for my info i did a quick search on good old google and found this site and read some things.

i then told the man on the other end imy wife had my info. so he asked me to call her and get it. so i agreed and he told me he would call back in 10 mins.

I then looked up everything i could and when he called back i told him he was full of s**t and his grant program was a rip off. he swore up and down he was real and that it was goverment money. well i then corned him and he told me he would send my "info" back to the goverment. he then hung up.

I am wondering about a few things that someone could answer.
1- How did they get my Info???
2- How are they still/trying to get people to fall victim to them?
3- Can i report them to anyone?

Last thing is on my caller id there number was Unknown caller and no number listed, the only reason i answered im friend's number comes up that way, if his number didn't do that i would have never answered.

I hope no one fall prey to these scumbags!
