Florida Power and Light is up to its sicking scare tatics rent our surge protector or everything in your house will be destroyed from lighting. People Im an electrician been so since 1978 you can buy a whole house surge protector for around $60 and have it installed for around $100. it takes about 5 min to install . What you will pay FPL every month for the rest of your life will well excede $160. And the devices you can purchase from an electrical supply house will give you a warranty if something blowes out like your a/c or appliance. / I also want to add that a year ago FPL said to raise the temp on your a/c and run fans to lower your electric bill . Doing this will raise your electric bill. A/C 101 Your a/c unit works based on cooling cubic hot air rises so just above your thermostat the air starts getting warmer and at the ceiling its even warmer when you put a fan on its stirs up the warm above the thermostat and mixes it with the cool air now your cooling more cubic feet of air . For a central A/C in a normal home of 1500sf  when you stir up the hot air at the ceiling you are mixing about 3000 cubic feet of hot air with your cool air thus making your A/C run and run and run $$$$$$$$ for FPL..
