Free Credit Report. com is Total Scam.

They advertise free credit reports for 1.00 if you use your credit card to process the expedited request.  All I wanted was my credit card score to provide for my refi loan so I opted to give them my credit card number and incur the $1.00 fee.  The fine print I missed indicates that you must use their subscription service at $19.95 per month, $21.24 with tax) to get your free credit report it unless you cancel with 7 days.  I did not notice this cancellation clause, therefore the first time I became aware of the billing was when I saw it on my credit card statement.

I disputed the charge with my credit card provider who then set up a conference call with Free Credit Report.  They said they were sorry but because of the terms and conditions there was nothing they could or would do.  I insisted that cancle my membership immediately.  They indicated my membership was canceled and sent me a confirming e-mail that I would not receive any additional billings.

The next month I received another billing and called Free Credit Report to complain.  I explained my cancellation and the e-mail indicating no further charges would apply.  Their response was that I contacted them on March 7th and the billing cycle started on March 5th so I was obligated to pay for another entire month of subscription service.  They would not pro rate based upon the terms and conditions of service.  I never saw this anywhere, but I'm just they listed it in 5 pt type somewhere.

I've never been forced to pay for service I didn't want ever after I canceled.  This company is a total fraud and I'm sure this happens all the time.  Had I received an e-mail about the fees or cancellation window I would have canceled immediately.  They don't offer this because they know they'd lose most of their revenue stream.

Avoid this company like the plague!!
