Hello-

I am the latest in the "club" of people being scammed by Galaxy Credit. My situation is the same as those listed already. The dates, dollar amounts, contact names and numbers are all the same.

When I called Galaxy Credit re: my supposed "debt" Ralph stated that the burden of proof was on me to prove that I had cancelled a magazine subscription, not on them to prove that we had requested a magazine subscription (which we hadn't, just like everyone else!) When I began to dispute Ralph's claim and ask pointed questions, he hung up on me!

I have contacted the Arizona Attorney General's Office and plan to contact the Florida Attorney General's Office as well.

I wonder how many unsuspecting people they have scammed into complying with their requests for cash?

It is terrible that this is allowed to continue and our numbers are growing. This is fraud in my case, as the magazine subscription and supposed "verbal agreement" for the magazine subscription (by phone) were with a 12 year old boy who isn't legally responsible for any type of contractual agreement!

I would be pleased if you would include me in any type of actions against Galaxy Credit.

Update re; Galaxy Credit Scam

AUTHOR: Cheryl - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, September 05, 2005

I contacted Popular Science directly and when I mentioned Galaxy Credit was told they had to read me a memo. The memo mentioned that Popular Science is investigating Galaxy Credit, they do not use them to collect debts, that I have no unpaid orders on file, nad that I do not owe them anything. I contacted Rocky Mountain Reader Services and relayed the above to them. I cautioned them that they may want to remove themselves as far as possible from Galaxy Credit related to the complaints that have been filed. Rocky Mountain Readers services reported that they were aware of the issues with Galaxy Credit and were considering not using them in the future related to their "aggressive collection techniques". They stated that there must have been a "misunderstanding" and that they would zero my account. How many people have simply attached a check to the Galaxy credit form for the amount shown? They are a joke!
