I filed a billing dispute with GE Money Bank over improper charges to my Sam's Club Discover Card. When GE Money Bank refused to process my dispute, I complained to the BBB. GE Money Bank told the BBB it would credit my account for the charge (over one thousand dollars) and it did. Then the BBB closed the dispute. After the dispute was closed, GE Money Bank put the charge back on my card and now refuses to remove it.

Details?

You leave out a lot of details as to the "improper" charges on your card, as that would have people give you suggestions as to what you may want to do next.

You also didn't mention if the credit was a "temporary" credit while they investigate the dispute. As many times a credit card will do that while they investigate the dispute. But if they deny the dispute they will then "put" the charge back on the account.

But one thing you have to realize is that the BBB is nothing but a private company. Theyare nota government agency and don't haveany legal powers to force a company to do anything. When GE Moneybank refused to process your dispute you should have documented it by sending your DISPUTE in writing to GE Money bank. If they still ignored it you may have actually had legal remedies you could have taken against them.

WHY would you even waste your time with the BBB?

Time to get a grip on reality here, and learn what your legal rights are. Forget the BBB!

The BBB has absolutely no power to make anyone do anything. The BBB is a useless and corrupt organization that serves no purpose to the general public.

STAY OFF THE PHONE!!! Phone calls do not protect your rights under the law.

Always make any disputes in writing, and send via cerified mail, return reciept requested. Be sure to put the certified# in the body of the letter and keep a copy for your records. This proves exactly what you sent.

The FAIR CREDIT BILLING ACT explains your rights and the responsibilities of the credit card issuer during the dispute process. You can read this at FTC.gov.

You need to be VERY clear in your dispute to the bank as to exactly what your dispute is, and the exact dollar amount, etc.

You never told us here what your actual dispute was.

Proper terminology is essential. Was the entire transaction fraudulent, or was just the amount wrong, or what? Did you return merchandise and not recieve the credit, did you pay for merchandise that you did not get, etc...This makes a big difference in the resolution process.

GE Money Bank Still Stonewalling

GE Money Bank is now finger-pointing between two internal departments and doing nothing about my complaint. If you have a GE Money Bank credit card, close it before they do this to you.
