I had Geico insurance with a $500 deductible. I was in a not at fault accident. I took it to the garage Lexus of Pembroke Pines in Florida because thatbis where my claim person at Geico told me to go. At the garage I was told by the employee that since I had 40 days of rental coverage qith Geico they qould pay my car rental as I kept returning every week and my car still wasnt fixed. I was told by the garage to have the other persons insurance cover it to avoid an up front $500 deductible so I did everything as told. Later because it took 35 days to fix, the other company refused to pay more than 11 days because Geico garage had said only 3 days to fix. The car rental place demanded a credit card for the rental also located within the garage. I told them no because I dont want anything charged to it. They assured me Verbally nothing would be charged. Later they billed $742 car rental to my card and Geico refused to pay my car rental coverage because the other company paid for the car repair but not any rental. I called the insurance comissioner to file a legal complaint and they said I could not file a complaint because Geico hid behind a law that was made to keep people from being paid twice for the same claim even though my card was fraudulently charged to make up for what Geico refused to pay knowing they owed it to me but could use the legal loophole. Warren Buffet should be ashamed of his company.

#1 UPDATE EX-employee responds
Geico prbably assumed you were double=dipping

You should have ONLY done what Geico told you to do. By bringing in the 2nd insurer, they probably assumed you were trying to 'double-dip'(i.e. get paid by both insurers), so they backed down. And the rental car company doesn't care Who pays, but Someone will. You should have just stuck with what Geico told you to do-that is what insurance is for.
