I read with great interest similar experiences with GEICO. If they are your insurance co. beware; they will not hesitate to treat you as they treated me.
I was hit by a GEICO insured driver. He was cited and fined, GEICO admitted his guilt.
Then the stall tactics began:
They didn't want to pay for a rental because my car was driveable. It was Jan. and the drivers door (the point of impact) leaked badly. It took a day of wrangling to get them to provide a car.
Then the serious stalling and outright repeated lying began. I repeatedly faxed hippa forms and doctor's prescriptions for treatment to them. Weeks would then go by with repeated promises for a 'settlement next week. No word, then more repeated requests for prescriptions, that they 'never received'. I finally started sending certified mail. After nearly a year of therapy, the adjuster expressed the need for treatment notes. When the therapists responded that the notes comprised nearly an inch of paper, the adjuster stated that she had no desire to pore through that many notes...forget the notes....and another promise for a settlement. After about 13 months, suddenly a new adjuster. She now has the entire case load of the 1st adjuster. And guess what? She has no records, no notes, no forms, no prescriptions. Now suddenly 15 months after the accident, she demands notes. Extensive project for busy therapists!!!! Bottom line, gave me a pittance and sternly lectured me that the money was to be used for my medical bills. Last day of the 2 year statute of limitations, "We'd like to settle but we have no prescriptions!" Lies and more lies. Not 1$ for pain and suffering. I'm still spending out-of-pocket money for therapy, no end in sight, GEICO smiles its 'knowing' smile and once again successfully avoids accepting responsibility.
