George Grover The Home Theater Store Home theater "white van” scam Asheville, North Carolina

I think my story will be very similar to everyone else’s on George Grover. I pulled up to Lowe’s and he came up to me and said "Hey, I own three home theater stores and we have sold several home theater systems and because of this the 10th one is thrown in for free. We are trying to make some quick cash and are you interested in a home theater system?". Unfortunately being the sucker that I am, and the fact that I was currently looking at a home theater projectors...i was suckered in. He produced several brochures and literature indicating the value in the current sales price of the projectors and indicated that he had shown and installed several of these recently including showing me pictures of what they look like installed. Even offered to help come install it for me. He indicated that he had three physical stores including one in Asheville, North Carolina, one outside Atlanta, As well as one in Charlotte, North Carolina. He even pulled up a website and eBay showing the current listing price is in what they’re being sold for. Unfortunately all of these are fake. I paid $400 for what he tried to sell me originally for $800. Once I got home, it was clearly an inferior product. Certainly did not project the quality of picture it was described. There was little functionality to it and it would not connect. The box had no serial number. The box also did not contain all of the items that were reported to have in it on the side box. He had given me a business card which surprisingly did have his phone number, and but once contacted he would not i qucklu began to panic and stared to lookhim up and he and this projector popped up all over the place. When i told him i wanted a refund he essentially taunted me and said that I was a sucker. Unfortunately this is a scam...and i fell for it. I reported him to the police. Hopefully they will be able to do something. But i hope nobody else falls for this.
