My husband and I have had our timeshare in Cancun for sale for about 3 years. Yesterday we get a phone call from "Allen Trent" from Global Timeshare sales stating that he had a buyer for our property (we did not list our property through these people).
He spoke with my husband first stating that the buyer had made an offer for $18,000 and he wanted our permission to make a counteroffer for $21,000 which would give us a profit of $13,000. We agreed thinking that we would hear back from him in a few days.
He calls back in less than an hour stating that the buyers had been approved and agreed to pay $21,000, but all he needed was the finders fee of $1950. While my husband is speaking with him and I am over hearing I tell my husband ABSOLUTELY NOT! My husband tells "Allen" that he had to talk it over with me and we would call back momentarily. "Allen" says we need to be quick because the "buyers" are sitting right in front of him.
I tell my husband that I am not sending $1950 to someone that I do not know without some sort of contract or proof that this is the real deal. I call "Allen" back myself and he gives me a brief summary of what he and my husband spoke about. I told him that sounded great but what I needed from him was...and then he cut me off before I could speak and said "you will not dictate to me how to conduct business when I have been doing this for 15 years. You either want to sell it or you don't!"
Absolutely baffled by him speaking to me like this I try to tell him as calmly as I can that I just needed some sort of proof that this is not a scam. He repeatedly told me that he could not give out buyers information because it is identity theft. I never once asked him about buyers info! I told him I just wanted proof, his idea of my "proof" is to go to their website www.vacationpropertynetwork.com!
After my phone call with him, I called back and asked the secretary to speak with a supervisor. She states that there are about 6 or 7 and if I could tell her my reps name the she could help me easier. After doing so, she puts me on hold and comes back stating that he is on vacation right now and will not be back until Monday after 1 pm. I asked her if there was any other supervisor to speak with about a problem and they were all out to lunch. Thats funny ALL supervisors are out to lunch? Huh?
Anyways, I decided to Google timeshare scams and here I am. Thanks to Ripoff Report and everyone here I didn't get scammed! If it sounds too good to be true, it is!!!!!
Lets put these scumbags out of business!!!!!
