I bought a Blackberry Bold from them, the cheapest price on the internet. I tried to set it up but I kept getting a message that the phone's PIN was suspended or blocked. I called called my carrier and they got in touch with RIM who suggested that the phone may even be stolen!

I called GSMmonster and they said to send the phone, just the phone back, so I did. Then I started googling the company name and saw this report, go figure! GSMmonster.com has the BBB logo on their site and of course, is not a certified BBB company. What a fraud!

My bank was very understanding and issued me a refund. My bank and RIM are both investigating this company. I also emailed GSMonster to let them know my findings and that I wanted my money back and I was returning everything. Of course, I'm sure I won't get all of my money back due to a restocking fee. I even ordered a skin for my cell phone in black and they sent me a gray one. The invoice even stated that I ordered a black one. They couldn't even do one thing right!

I went to Best Buy, which I should of done in the first place and bought a new Bold. The differences in the two phones was dramatic. The defective Bold had so much more wrong with it than a blocked PIN. I hope these guys fry! Shame on them!

anonymous cowards posting false information

AUTHOR: Yisgood - (U.S.A.)

I have been a customer of gsmmonster for years. Recently while chatting with the owners and mentioning I build web sites, I came in for a few hours to help them with their site. I am not in any way an owner or related to an owner or even a good friend of an owner. As the former owner of a non-related online business, it disturns me that people can make anonymous false allegations against a reputable firm.

First, N1 Wireless is a competitor to GSMMonster. One of these reports claims they are the same company. Second, GSMMonster has never had a BBB seal of approval on their site. People think the BBB has a lot of power. As someone who has been burned online and called them I discovered it really doesnt mean much. Third, GSMMonster is under no investigation for selling stolen phones. This is a complete lie. They are still receiving phones from Blackberry and many other well known firms.

The problem is that there are too many people loose on the net without adult supervision. They dont bother reading terms of sale and feel that whatever they believe they are due is owed them. When they lose, they file these false reports.
GSMMonster is part of a large company in business over ten years with 8 stores. They do thousands of dollars in business with hundreds of customers per day. There are only 3 complaints here. That is actually very low when taken into context.
Their terms are clear. They do not refund - they only exchange. People buy expensive phones, then see them cheaper somewhere else and want to return their used ones. So they try to claim it was defective. Or they break them due to their own negligence and want the store to take it back. If there was a legitimate complaint, consumers have great protection under credit card laws and wouldnt have to resort to posting anonymous and obviously false complaints here.
As I said, I have been a customer of theirs for years and still am.
